For the analysis of the focus group interview, qualitative research method of data analysis will be predominantly used to examine twofold: (1) the participants’ knowledge, opinions, and experiences with the currently existing nurses scrubs how they care for; (2) the new prototype how much establish the goals pointed out about the present scrubs, indicating that the questions about ‘outcomes’ and ‘what works’ overlapped in terms of reduction of pathogen transfer.

Activities in this project include: focus group interviews; moreover, two fabric tests (Sweating Guarded Hotplate Test and Stain Resistance Test) conducted on fabric samples from eight scrub garments. In the focus group interviews, the ten or twelve participants will receive a $30 gift card (48 @ $30) for their participation. For the fabric test (Sweating Guarded Hotplate Test and Stain Resistance Test), I need fabrics from eight scrub garments, current brands of scrubs. In addition, I travel to Central Michigan University conduct the Hot Plate Test; I will rent their equipment, the Sweating Guarded Hot Plate and the chamber in the lab. With regard to the Stain Resistance Test, liquid medicine and corn- oil stains will be applied to separate fabric samples. The normal home washing and dryer machines in the textile lab will be used to implement the Stain Resistance Test with normal commercial detergent. Thus, the total request of funds is $3654.00 in order to successfully complete the evaluation of optimal fabrics to prevent infection transfer for patients’ and nurses’
