Queen Lili’uokalani was an amazing woman who made many important decisions and made many sacrifices that have changed the world ever since. The hawaiian warrior like culture is very centered around males and their power and forceful ability to conquer and maintain the beautiful land of Hawaii. Queen Lili’uokalani was the sister of the last king of the hawaiian kingdom. When the queen was just 4 years old she attended the Royal School on Oahu founded by king kamehameha III. She achieved many great things before becoming Queen, and in a society so dominated by a male influence she was able to rise above the suppression and become something great regardless of her situation. The queen was always focusing on informing herself of the problems, and issues taking place among her kingdom of hawaii. From a young age she had attended important councils and for this reason knew more than most about the situations that her people were in. Hawaii went through many tough times as they were struggling economically and striving to have a larger demand for their sugar cane which also at the same time caused more attention to an annexation to the kingdom.

Queen Lili’uokalani stood up for what she believed in, and proved to be very dedicated at getting done what she willed to be done at an early age. One example of this tenacity that she possesed was that of her desire to enter college at a very young age and was actually admitted after a long hard struggle to prove her reasoning, and show her desire for further education. She was only twenty years old and somehow managed to persuaded the college of Oahu to admit her who at the time didnt even admit women into their school. She was most definitly a hard working and dedicated woman. One of the most amazing things about Queen Lili’uokalani was her love for the finer arts and music she was an amazingly talented woman who was able to express

Lili’uokalani was the first woman leader of Hawaii when she became queen in 1891. Her life before becoming queen consisted of growing up in a household of royalty. Being the daughter of high-ranking chiefs Caesar Kapa’akea and Anale’a a Keohokālole, and the sister of King Kalakuaua helped taking the role of leadership a lot easier. Lili’uokalani grew up going to the Royal School, where she learned proper English, was trained in music, and traveled widely. Going to the Royal School and learning these components ended up helping Lili’uokalani in the long run when she finally became queen. Before she took the royal throne, her brother Kalakuaua was king at the time. Lili’uokalani saw the way her brother led, and helped the people of Hawaii. In 1881, King Kalakuaua took an extended trip around the world, and Lili’uokalani ended up having to fill in the role of King Kalakuaua. During the time when Lili’uokalani was in charge, an epidemic of smallpox broke out through the islands of Hawaii. Chinese laborers who worked in Hawaii’s sugar cane fields brought the disease. Lili’uokalani made the executive decision by closing of the ports of Hawaii to limit the disease from spreading anywhere else. Wealthy sugar growers became angry, but it was the right move to make and she showed strong concern for her people.…

Her service to humanity will for all time go into the annals of History of the world and, she will forever find a place in the pages of Indian History too. The greatness and pedestal acquired by the Mother goes a long way to enlighten the world to the fact that, for being remembered, or, for entering into History books, one does not have to be a king or a queen or a scientist or a leader of some sort. The simple unimposing little woman could achieve all the name and all the fame and glory of an empress by sheer service to humanity. She had to fight no wars, she had to recruit no armies to conquer, her service conquered what no great conquerer could have ever done, such was the work she did that, without any wars, she…
