My Quinceanera
Quinceanera is every girl dream, it’s a celebration of a girls fifteenth birthday. It’s a tradition where a girl turns into a woman. A Quinceanera is planned one year before your fifteenth birthday. It starts out with a ceremony, food reception, and a Surprise dance to end it. All my family and friends were there on my big day. On November 22, 2008, I had one of my memorable nights, where I felt like a total princess.
My birthday is November 11, but since it wasn’t a Saturday on that day, I set the date to November 22, 2008. My mom had surgery on September; we had already decided I wasn’t going to have a quince. I was devastated when my mom told me, I felt like my dream of feeling like a total princess had been crushed into pieces, but I understood where my mom was coming from. I felt like my mom later in the month felt bad and she changed her mind. I was going to have a quince. October was a stressful month for me and my friends. I had so much planning to do, having to order the dress for my damas and tuxedos for my chambelanes, decorations, local place, cake, DJ, limo, photographer, and lastly my dress. Every day my friends came after school to practice for the surprise dance. Somehow we manage to get everything done before November 22, 2008.
It was Saturday morning; the big day was finally here. I woke up feeling nervous thinking I might trip walking down the aisle. I ate cereal, and quickly put on some pants and a sweater to get my hair done. My mom had made me an appointment to get my hair done. I went for the half do hairstyle, curls on the bottom and flower curled bun on the top of my hair. Around 11am I was getting pedicure and manicure. Eventually, I was home to put on my light pink dress. It was a heart shaped dress, with jewels on the bottom of the dress. The excitement of getting glamorous was an awesome feeling.
