Quinnox Case
I was the client relationship executive from Quinnox for Fastenal. Before leaving Quinnox, I had discussed with Ashok about taking over some of the activities from IDC and also I had proposed to buy out of IDC plus pay Fastenal money for this acquisition without disrupting any of your operation/services. Understand from your website that you have taken over from Ashok.

Even though I have moved to a larger company (Please see attached 5 slider ppt), my proposal still holds good. It will be nice if I can get some time to discuss the same proposal with you and understand your plan. I may have other solutions options also for you in case I know your road map.

Look forward to your response.

However, to my surprise, not only I failed get a favorable response from him, but he also has dismissed the proposal citing that the current operations process does not need any tweaks. Instead of reacting to my Manager’s wrath, I chose to tackle this issue competently by emphasizing on the benefits the company can beget from implementing this proposal. The channel with the greatest potential for profit and should be pursued is the online and corporate programs. Currently this channel has accounted for 10% of US sales and I believe it has a very strong potential to increase in future years. Montague has been contemplating about increasing their activity in this area and this is a very good idea. As Montague hasn’t really done much advertising and marketing of their products online and so if they were to pursue and be aggressive, more people will be aware of their products and be able to purchase it right off from the website and have the product shipped instead of having to go to a lot of trouble to go to a shop and purchase it physically. Beside the added benefit of the folding mechanism, when the product is shipped, it’s already assembled and ready to go so the consumers won’t have to worry about assembling it. At the same time by using online and phone order sales, Montague will be able to earn all the profits it makes above the cost whereas by using other channels, they have to share commission of the profits. Therefore by using this channel, Montague may be able to lower the selling price of the bicycles as they will be earning more profits compared to before and can afford to reduce the cost.…

The case is about Lake Eola Charter School (LECS) in downtown Orlando, Florida, Ronnie DeNoia is the principal of this school, who completed a course on nonprofit branding at the Philanthropy & Nonproft Leadership Center at the local college. She done this course to shore up her understanding of planning and managing a non profit organisation. She wanted to apply her new learning to evaluate the school’s competitive position, so there is need for environmental analysis, for this full understanding of the school’s internal environment and external competitors is necessary in order to improve the position of the school. And also the case talks about the challenges that had been faced by LECS from its initial stage till 2009 and the benefits that they will provide not only to the children but also to their parents (through their involvement that contributed in creating the family like culture in the school). And also about how DeNoia decided to make certain changes for the 2010 academic year of the school. For this purpose she employed a MBA intern to help her in developing the environmental scanning for the school. Both primary and secondary data is collected for the study. Firstly focus group and survey data collected from LECS students, employees and parents. The survey showed the high level of satisfaction with the school. The success of the school which is revealed by the survey responses, emanated from the strong mission and vision that kept all staff focused on the same gaol and also feedback received from survey is quite satisfactory. DeNoia instructed her intern to collect and organize information on LECS. She had given her the idea what worked and what did not but she wanted the intern to synthesize the data collected and combine it with information available from the state and popular press in a usable fashion. So with the help of SWOT analysis the comparison with…

Over two centuries, the Fries family of northern Kentucky and southern Ohio built a dynasty of sorts in the flavor industry. Alex Fries, a German immigrant with a background in chemistry, settled in Cincinnati during the early nineteenth century and a few years later established a flavor company. Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Fries and his descendants owned, operated, or oversaw several flavor companies, the last of which was F&C International. In the early 1990s, F & C’s chief executive, Jon Fries, orchestrated a large-scale financial fraud that proved the undoing of the company and the family’s proud history in the flavor industry.…

The Medicines Company is ready to launch a recent drug acquisition, Angiomax, into the market, however its CEO Clive Meanwell is uncertain as to the appropriate price to charge for the drug. Angiomax serves as an alternative drug to heparin, a low-priced anticoagulant commonly used for patients undergoing angioplasty. While Angiomax has proven to be a more effective drug for both high-risk and very high-risk patients, the Medicines Company is challenged by the need to convince customers to pay a steep price premium for this new drug, especially given that heparin is widely accepted and only costs $2 per dose.…
