When I was in high school I was told that I was anemic. I didn’t give I much thought at the time. That is not until I had to go to the ER in Bryson City, NC and was sent to Sylvia, NC for a transfusion. The ambulance ride between the two cities was nerve wracking. The EMT that stayed in the back with me refused to let me fall asleep, which led me to think that it wouldn’t be safe for me to do so. I said silent prayers asking God to please let me make it to the next hospital.
When I made it to the Sylvia hospital I was even more surprised when the nurses kept telling me to get some sleep. I was only awake when the staff would come in to take vitals and more blood to run tests and cross-check with the donor blood. When they finally came in saying

They took one last x-ray, and the man who said to wait finally saw something. “That is what the problem is.” He said sounding pleased. Then I was taken back to my room in the ICU where I was allowed to sleep some more.
It is dark again. This time I don’t hear anything. ‘Is there anything, or anyone here?’ I saw no one. I could hear nothing. I saw nothing. This place was nothing but darkness and loneliness. I opened my eyes, and saw the nurse at the foot of my bed.
“Thank God you are awake.” she said with a smile. “We almost lost you three times.” I blinked at her in disbelief.
“Three times I almost died?” I repeated to her. She nodded while writing in the chart.
“Yep. We thought we were going to have to do a hysterectomy to get the bleeding to stop, but we didn’t. I am glad to see you finally awake.” She said with a grin. ‘Three times I nearly died. Three times I was somewhere else. Three times I nearly died.’ I shook my head and managed a weak smile, ‘That explains a lot.’, “I am too.” I managed to say.
‘Unwanted in Hell. Turned away from Heaven. Kicked out of Purgatory. Thank you God.
I know now what I need to correct in my life, and I will do better from now
