Quiting Volleyball
For me, I am someone who plays volleyball because I feel like in certain ways I am obligated to playing. If I were to quit volleyball I would literally do nothing with my life. This sport is very much time consuming and without it, I'd probably be a fat potato that does not extracurricular activities or hobbies what so ever. Hopefully, by the end of this project, I am able to find other things that I am interested in than just volleyball. When deciding what I wanted to do for my project I had no idea what to do. It felt like I had no life outside of volleyball and school. Volleyball was my hobby, but it was not something that I truly enjoyed doing. After going into conference with Mrs. Lee to brainstorm the different topics that I could do for my Quality Project. She asked questions that were supposed to provoke ideas. She would ask me, "What do you care about?" or "What do you do in your free time?" I told her how I play volleyball and how I …show more content…
The second step that I took was asking 25 of my peers about what their own hobbies were and how they learned to enjoy their hobby. I also interviewed my parents and had a conversation about how I felt about volleyball and finding out what their own hobbies were and how they came to enjoy what they do. They are two very important figures in my life and being able to know how they came to love their hobby could possibly be the same seed that I can use to plant and find my own hobby the way that they did. The third step that I took was researching the different steps I could take and where I could start when finding a hobby. The last step was reading a book with different hobby ideas and finding ones that I thought would interest me. I then made a list and from there narrowed down my options and settled on my own hobby that I am going to do in my free

As a child, almost any activity is interesting besides staying inside of the house all day. I was an active child growing up. I participated in a wide variety of activities for multiple years such as: dancing, karate, cheerleading, and softball. When I entered middle school, I decided it was time to try something new. Basketball tryouts were coming up and I felt like I would enjoy the new experience. I ended up making the team, but halfway into the season I decided basketball was not the sport for me. A couple months later, track posters smothered the hallways encouraging students to join the team. I raced home and mentioned joining the team to my mother who then told me to try it out and see if I liked it. I went to the…

As a freshman, I made the varsity volleyball team. With this position came a lot of responsibility and pressure. My teammates always looked at me as the “baby”, but they expected me to play at the same level as the seniors. I learned how to deal with difficult personalities and I learned how to commit myself to a team and a sport. I also learned that I was a role model to other teammates and young volleyball players. Just like the Pink Ranger, people looked up to me and I tried to lead by example throughout my volleyball career.…

I choose to play to represent my team and my family. “Softball is my sport and i love to play softball with my friends and family. The negative effects of playing softball are that people can cheat and the Boys that walk around can tell you “let’s go smoke” and encourage to do drugs and miss practice. They might say, let go walking or go cruising. Then you can't go to allstars if you miss practice or games.…

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. I am looking forward to bringing this same sense of pride to my college, and making many new friendships along the way. I learned over the course of my education to this point, that when I became more involved with these activities, my performance in the classroom increased alongside my…

Whenever I think back to highschool I am always reminded of the fun times I had playing sports. The friendships I built and diciplines I learned still affect my life today. Playing volleyball helped me learn good time management skills especially when I started playing for the local club team. The highschool team was demanding but when club season started that became your life. School, practice, homework, sleep was my weekday schedule. The weekend tournaments didn’t allow for much of a break either. A minimum of 4 matches and if you won the bracket, you could expect atleast 2 more. Putting in hard work and dedicating countless hours wasn’t all for nothing though.…

“Beep…beep…beep…” yelled my alarm notifying me that it was finally time for me to raise out of bed. Even though it was only six o’clock in the morning, my mood instantly brightened when I looked at my phone calendar and instinctively remembered that today was my final first volleyball game of the season. Quickly, I stumbled out of bed to go brush my teeth and begin getting ready for what would end up being my last day of playing volleyball.…

If I had to pick one extracurricular activity to pursue in college, I would definitely choose club volleyball. Ever since I started playing volleyball in the 7th grade, I have been hooked. From that point on, the sport has become an invaluable part of me that has helped me grow into the person I am today. Since I joined volleyball two years after most of my peers, I was put on the “B-team.” I was determined to work as hard as I could to be placed on an advanced high school team. Thankfully, my hard work earned me a spot on a state-winning varsity roster as a freshman. We went on to win two state championships, and I personally received an All-West Region award. In this way, volleyball taught me that teamwork, dedication, and perseverance…

Throughout my life I have played many sports, some more physically demanding than others. I think that I was able to understand which ones were for me and the ones that I couldn't see myself trying again. This allowed myself to identify the sports that I would be able to enjoy as my life continues. In the future I see myself continuing to run track and play golf in high school. Outside of highschool I can still see myself recreationally playing golf along with maybe another sport that I have not found yet.…

When I was in middle school, I had decided to play volleyball for some good exercise. I thought how hard it could be to hit a ball back and forth and not let it hit your team’s side of the floor. I liked being part of a team and knowing that I was staying healthy. I enjoyed learning proper techniques because playing volleyball required it. Playing the sport definitely built up my upper arm and leg muscle and helped me make friends and communicate better as a team. I had gained better eye and hand coordination when playing this sport and it was a just a great overall workout. I was taller than most of my teammates so my coach liked to put me on the net as middle blocker but my favorite position was the outside hitter and I always looked forward to serving. I loved the power I could put into hitting the ball and the relief of getting it over. In volleyball an individual uses all bones in some way and many muscles like the deltoid, triceps, quadriceps, and hamstrings. We also use body systems to benefit the performance like the circulatory system to keep the blood pumping and the muscular system to control their bodies. Other systems would be the respiratory system which helps the breathing process and the nervous system which helps with coordination, something I was lacking…

Volleyball and kids happen to be two of my favorite things, and I was fortunate enough to experience this past spring. I took on the role of coaching a 5th grade volleyball team. I volunteered to spend every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and occasional weekends with this crazy group of 5th grade girls. Safe to say I did not fully know what I was getting myself into, but I do not regret my decision to coach one bit. The first day of practice was crazy. The gym was full of smiling, screaming, dancing 5th grade girls. At that moment I thought how am I going to deal with this all season. Throughout the season the girls grew on me. I got to know more about them and all the 5th grade drama. The best part was getting to know their parents and having…
