This Quote actually relates to this book and many other books and movies. Every book or movies what has a journey or a task they have to do, this quote will always relate. In the alchemist, his journey was to find the treasure what he thought was in the pyramids and it was about the journey to them. He didn’t really have to much luck at the beginning but the most he got was people telling him the treasure was near the pyramids. Throughout his journey, the things he was tested on were things like people who to trust as he got robbed; working and saving money and have to earn more. I think that the authors point of this was to give the reader a chance to think about all the small things what have happened in your life what what you've learned.

    A moral that has connection the novel The Alchemist and the news article “What a new study teaches us about football and brain disease” (Partida PBS Broadcasting Service) brightens the idea that objects, people, ideas, etc. aren’t always what they’re imagined. In the novel The Alchemist (Coelho, Paulo. The Alchemist. N.p.: HarperCollins., n.d. Print.) a boy is told an idea that there is a treasure in the pyramids of Egypt. According to the novel, there is more to it than just wealth as the boy travels across lands. “The alchemist said, “No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn’t know it.”” (The Alchemist Coelho pg. 163) This quote reveals - in the story - that treasure has more value to it than man could even say - even if it’s man itself. Because in the end, the boy realizes that listening to his heart is more value in treasure and embraces it. Much like in the news article “What a new study teaches us about football and brain disease.” In the article, it states that NFL football players are revealed to have a illness known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). In football, the players are known to being used to tackling and being tackled repeatedly. With that being in mind, the article states that as the player keeps up with the constant hitting and pain, the body develops the CTE disease. “Overall, 87 percent - or 177 players - had CTE.     In the story The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, the author uses the theme, “individuals should always follow their dreams,” to teach the reader lessons about life. When Santiago is with the crystal merchant, the crystal merchant reveals his unfulfilled dream to go on a religious pilgrimage to Mecca. People of different classes and cultures all traveled to Mecca to fulfill their dreams. “All who went there were happy at having done so.”(55) All these people followed their dreams which led to happiness.     As far as the importance of friendship, I definitely agree with my sister’s opinion. Friendship is one of the most important and essential things for somebody to have, since it gives you a sense of being cherished, and it fills you with happiness. Friends give reassurance, guidance, and someone to talk to when you need it most. In The Alchemist, I feel that Santiago’s friends did exactly that for him. They didn’t let him make the mistake of not pursuing his Personal Legend, gave him happiness throughout his difficult transformation, and showed him that taking the easy way out and living with regret is never the correct answer. Without their insight and guidance, I feel Santiago may have never achieved his lofty Personal Legend. As far as alchemy being more than turning metal into gold, I definitely agree with my dad. The process of alchemy has a literal and figurative side to it. A person making a great change and achieving a big goal by being determined and evolving little by little along the way can definitely be classified as alchemy, in a figurative sense. Knowing all the facts isn’t enough to achieve greatness. Being wise, practical, and knowing all corners of a subject are just as important. I think this is exactly what Coelho was trying to say. Without being brave, determined, and headstrong, by taking the shortcut or easy way out, and not having some great friends along the way, one will never be able to succeed or attain their Personal Legend.
