Quotes From 'The Kite Runner'
This quote is important to the novel because it represents the crucial point in Amir’s life. At that moment, Amir is fighting against Assef, but he’s also sacrificing his life to save Sohrab as like Hassan sacrificed himself for Amir 26 years ago. Although Amir is badly beaten, he actually feels relieved as the guilt that he’s been suffering all his life has now been atoned for. From this quote, I learn that without being able to forgive yourself for your mistakes, you can’t have a fulfilled life. And, forgiveness only comes when you have truly tried to atone for your

Yes, I agree that figurative language improves the understanding of the novel in Woods Runner. I reached that conclusion because the picture the words paint gives you an idea of what is happening throughout the novel. Firstly, an example of this is found in chapter 4 on page 27 where it says “Samuel smelled it before he saw anything. Not just the smoke from the fires. But the thick, heavy smell. Blood. Death.” and this adds to the way the reader would paint a picture of the story in his head. Next, another example is where it says “He had seen no fresh sign until he came halfway up the fifth ridge, a thickly forested round hump shaped like the back of a giant animal.”(Paulsen, 19) giving…

The message of life or a theme the book, “The Maze Runner” is trying to convey is to never give up and persevere. In the book, Thomas thinks, “If Newt and the others hadn’t been able to solve the maze after two years of searching, it seemed impossible there could actually be a solution. The fact that the Gladers hadn’t given up said more about these people then anything else,” This quote tells the readers that even after 2 years The Gladers never gave up and kept on trying to solve the maze no matter how pointless it looked. Another example of perseverance is when Thomas is stuck in the maze with Minho and Alby overnight. Though all the Gladers said there was no chance of surviving in the maze in the night, Thomas did not give up and is able…

The commitment he makes to Sohrab relates to the one that Hassan made with him. For Amir, saving the young boy is a _form_ of atonement for the boy he did not save when he was younger. Once Sohrab is brought to safety, Amir is treated for external wounds. For the first time in his life, his pain is being shown on the outside, rather than being pent up inside. In the hospital, a new acquaintance of Amir’s is there to comfort him. The man, Fahrid, tells Amir that he will do anything for him, he says “For you a thousand times over” and as soon as the words escape his mouth, Amir begins to cry (305). His sudden display of emotion depicts a healing man. The tears represent the idea that Amir has recognized the quote’s effect on his life. It’s return in this way shows Amir that even a person that barely knows him can make the pledge. While he struggled to return the promise to a boy that he knew and loved. It turns his heart away from guilt and leads it to understanding. Even though he cannot erase the wrong he has done, he can recover from it by pledging himself to someone…

The excerpt saying "Homes that made Baba's house in Wazir Akbar Khan look like a servant's hut. " is an example of irony because Baba is an educated and rich man in Afghanistan, but in America, he is viewed as an ignorant poor immigrant. The novel’s most prominent example of irony is Amir not stopping Assef from raping Hassan. Amir doesn't stop the rape because he wants Baba's approval; But since he didn't stop Assef, Amir becomes the kind of coward that Baba worried he would become. Amir has always looked to Baba for reassurance and to make sure he has his approval.…

As Amir tells us about his father, a portrait of an immensely likable, dominant, and moral man emerges. To Amir, Baba is both larger-than-life and principled. The combination of these two qualities magnifies Amir's shame when he abandons Hassan in the alleyway. How could you ever tell a man who supposedly wrestled a bear that you broke one of his principles? That you allowed Assef to steal Hassan's innocence and childhood? Of course, all this is complicated by the fact that Baba – before Amir was born – stole Ali's honor. With that in mind, Baba's bit of advice to Amir contains a good deal of self-loathing.…

Once Amir gets some answers concerning Baba's transgression, he feels as if his whole life has been a cycle of disloyalty, even before he sold out Hassan. Be that as it may, having an essence of treachery himself does little towards recovering Amir. At the point when Assef very nearly murders Amir, he feels "mended," as if now that Assef has hurt him, he is recovered. He even tells Farid that in the room with Assef, he "got what he merited." In the end, Amir figures out that discipline is not what will recover him from his wrongdoing. It is not in any case sparing Sohrab. Keeping in mind the end goal to offer compensation for his transgression and Baba's before him, Amir must eradicate the lines of segregation he has lived with all his life…
