Except it didn’t protect farmworkers or domestics most included non whites. Unions also locked down blacks and Latinos into more low paying jobs or just didn't take them at all. When soldiers came home many didn’t have places to live. That was in 1947 when Levittown was built, however the people living in places like it where still mostly white. Black soldiers who fought for our country in usually segregated ranks weren't able to live in places like Levittown. The owners of many developments didn’t want to sell to black or non white families. The presence of non white families can undermine real state values as written by the federal housing administration. The more non whites there were in certain areas the more they were considered hazardous those areas were redlined and more suburban white areas had mortgages approved. African Americans were left in low income areas and left with again even less opportunities for better lives. An urban renewal act was suppose to help but many homes were destroyed by the renewal and not replaced leaving many people
