There are many similarities and differences between the prophets of Isaiah and Daniel. Isaiah was speaking to the Jews in Judea while Daniel was speaking to the Jews captive in Babylon and also to the Gentile kings. Isaiah was during the reign of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. Daniel lived during the reigns of Jehoiakim of Judah, Jehoiachin of Judah, Zedekiah of Judah and Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Isaiah was speaking concerning Judah and Jerusalem and Daniel was concerning Israel and the Gentile Nations. Isaiah is often considered “the evangelical prophet” because of the amount of times he mentioned salvation and the work of Christ on the cross. Isaiah’s name literally means “Jehovah is salvation”. He belonged to a family of royalty
Daniel always remembered to praise and thank God for all that he had done for them. Daniel did not speak often of the coming of Christ. But he did picture it by demonstrating his faith in Christ. Daniel even prayed and fasted for other people’s sins. He asked for God’s mercy upon them and himself. Daniel was a man of many gifts and we see all these fruits in the prophecies that he gives. God gave Daniel understanding in all visions and dreams. Daniel interpreted a dream that pointed to the end of times when Christ will come again. In that way, Isaiah and Daniel are alike in prophesying Christ’s coming; also in prophesying Christ’s destruction of the wicked nations. Nebuchadnezzar had the dream that pictured Christ’s coming and Daniel interpreted it with the gifts that he was given from God. Because of his abilities he was given a high place in the government. Daniel was chosen by god to tell of future events. Some very important prophecies that Daniel gave was the prophecy of the four world-ruling empires, the prophecy of the kingdom of God, and also the prophecy of the little horn.
