Racial Inequality Essay

Inequality, without many realising it, has become a large contributing factor into our everyday lives. It has been practised for many centuries, from racism to gender discrimination in the workplace. Inequality has proved to be a crisis for not just an individual, but society as a whole. Whilst some are visibly born into it, such as poverty, we can still experience it in other factors of life that we may not fully pay attention to at first. Following the second world war, we coined the term neo-racism, where inequality shifted from visible differences in appearance to those of one’s culture. The question remains, as to why is inequality stemmed off of such hatred for one another? It has become a large part of not only New Zealand, but world history, and will continue to affect all populations regardless. However, as combatting it at once cannot be done overnight, instead we find that small efforts and recognition can go a long way. Whilst, it is easy to blame the individual for not catching up to the rest of society, it is not entirely their fault. Unfortunately, one can be born into it through such things as poverty or homelessness. As we preach about treating one another equally,
From concepts such as racism to media influence, we find that we cannot escape what society has set in place for us. Rather so, we find ourselves fighting against it, but, even this proves to be difficult when not all odds are in our favour. The economic pressures of capitalism ensure that the wealthy come out on top, whilst others are left with difficulty just to simply survive. Inequality, surrounds us in everyday, even if we perceive no knowledge of it in the time of being. Regardless, inequality is inevitable and will continue to rise on the daily.
