The first and probably most significant death is the death of Freddie Gray. Freddie was pulled over for presumably possessing an illegal switchblade under the Seattle law. After this he was loaded into a police van with his hands bound behind his back and not secured with a seatbelt. During the ride to the police station Gray, unable to control where he was going hit his head on the metal wall of the police van. From that hit he slipped into a coma. Once at the station he died of his injuries. Another incident of racial profiling leading to death is the case of Michael Brown. Mr. Brown was stopped by a police officer for walking in the middle of the street. His punishment according to The Huffington Post was, “6 to 8 times in the head and chest and died of his wounds on that Ferguson street,” Michael Brown of course, was unarmed. These deaths -just to name a few- are prime examples of how racial profiling is impacting the United States.
Racial profiling is destroying the U.S. because in every single one of the cases about this profiling no justice is served; none. After both of the unarmed men were shot or brutalized, Freddie Gray and Michael Brown, none of the police officers were convicted of murder. The six officers in the case of Freddie Gray were either acquitted or not guilty. The officer in the case of Michael Brown, Darren Wilson, was found not guilty. The continuous theme of officers killing unarmed black men and pleading not guilty is a process that needs to be stopped
