Racism is regarding one race as inferior to another because of certain character or traits. The definitions I discovered online were very general and could be applied to many scenarios that are clearly not racism. I believe racism has become a popular term in our society and is used to liberally. True racism is abusive acts of anger towards a race, motivated by the mindset that the race is interior.

The book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a historical fiction novel about a young, Huck, and his boyhood. Huck is not a real historical character, but the setting, characters, and language is authentic during a time of racism
and segregation in the south.
3. Should the writings of Mark Twain be pulled from library shelves because of the content? Why?
Mark Twain’s writing should not be pulled from library shelves because of its content. The content is blunt and may seem offensive to some; however, the content accurately portrays how ignorance and racism can destroy so many lives. The book is a great read for individuals who are mature enough for the adult content. Furthermore, if readers read the story based on how it was intended to be read, then they would not find the content so offensive. I read that it was Mark Twain’s desire to expose the raw feelings and actions of the south during a shameful time in our America’s history.
