Raleigh Rescue Mission: Hope For The Poor And Homeless
Have you ever had to wonder where your next meal was coming from, if you were going to get anything to eat at all that day? Well there are many families and various people of all ages and races who experience this tragic, from day to day. I had the opportunity to help families and people without a family cope with this tragic. For my service learning project I helped out at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, Which is “Hope for the Poor and Homeless.” During my time at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, I helped prepare and serve the homeless. We served various families and those single, spaghetti and meatballs with bread, a salad and a cup of water or punch. Being able to speak with the people and react with them they really expressed how thankful
they are to eat a warm meal.
This experience was so important to me because, I’m blessing someone else just as God would have wanted me to. I see it as me doing mission work for the Lord. This makes me feel good inside, seeing someone happy makes me happy. Knowing that there is somewhere for those in need to go and to get a hot meal without starving because they have no where to go for help. I chose to be apart of this service learning project because it touched me knowing that I could be a big help to someone has nothing to eat. Not only that but knowing what the families came from, and how they ended up where they are today. I don’t expect anything in return. I just pray for those in need and I know I will see each and everyone of them with smiles and in tears of joy, showing how thankful and happy they are. This service learning project has shown me that anything can happen especially when you least expect it, for anyone. I contributed my time, dedication, determination, smile and blessing. You never know how families and people without anyone but themselves go through until you have taken the time to help them out and see for yourself. It feels good to feed someone else a hot meal, which is why I am glad I was able to give a helping hand. This relates to what I have learned in class because I am helping a people in need. Helping those in need to survive with a healthy meal is what we have been talking about in class. Some students just chose to walk and help families by feeding them.
