Ransom Of The Red Chief OR SAC
After reading the text version of Ransom of the Red Chief by O.Henry and watching the fil adaptation, I preferred the film because it had more detail, a better back story, and it was more humorous.
A few changes that could be made to the short story would be adding more details to the story. For example, in the film version, they had explained what the town of old summit place was like. In the story they just said it was a flat as a pancake and never really got into a specific explanation of the towns situation and scenery was there. I’m a visual learner, so the movie itself was just easier to relate to and really understand the story. Another example of this was explaining the family’s situation. In the story version, they never really talked about their nanny, or the mom. If they had added more specific information about these things, maybe the story would be more relatable.
Another change I would have added to the story version of The Ransom of the Red Chief is by adding a much more interesting story plot. In the film there was a bunch of added conflicts and plots happening in the story at once. This made the film an interesting piece and made you want to watch to find out what happened next. In general it just had more backup information! For example why was Red chief such a trouble maker? In the story version, none of that was mention at all! But in the film, it explained that he didn’t get enough positive attention from his parent.
Lastly, another change I would add to the story Version of the Ransom of the Red Chief is by making it more humorous. In the film they added character like, the nanny and she made the story much more humorous! She had this outrageous laugh and these silly little mistakes she had done mad almost everyone in the class laugh! Unfortunately in the short story they never really mention their nanny. For excluding their nanny made the story not humorous and with a serious story plot which in my opinion made the story boring and NOT

I believe the movie was told very differently than the book because a movie director is entertaining a different audience than an author of a book. A director has different goals and thoughts to portray than the original book. The director is given certain artistic freedoms to help better connect with the audience and sometimes that makes the story change a little…

One of the things that made Sgt. John Wilson such a powerful book was the connection between writer to reader. Lois Simmie put a lot of effort trying to relate to a conversation in the book. The purpose is definitely filled with all the letters that are added into the book. There’s only positive feedback to put in this book which you could say add a letter or two, maybe just to extend the duration of the books time for the price 22$. There has never been a movie made on the subject and if there was it would be a quite successful movie on the book considering it could be dramatized for viewer's…

The first noticeable major difference is how the story is told. In the novel, Jon Krakauer writes from his own point of view, providing his own input and opinions on McCandless, while the film is told in his sister’s point of view; she is scarcely mentioned in the novel, aside from the fact that Chris was very fond of her. The shift in narrators in a way limits the amount of information that can be delivered to the audience. Though the narration by Chris’s sister adds a more…

Personally, I like the book better. The movie just doesn't give enough information. It leaves out so many details from the book that it just messes up the story line. Don't get me wrong the movie was a great movie but it just wasn't good enough. It needed more details than what it had. The little details is what counts the…

Personally, I liked the book better than the movie. Although the book was confusing at certain points, for example when the chief would refer to the fog, it went into greater detail and was more interesting than the movie. The director changed the movie around for entertainment purposes rather than directly following all the events from the novel. The mood of the characters comparing the book and the movie differ. Each character is depicted in a different way in the movie setting a dissimilar temperament every scene.…

One of the most obvious differences between the film and the novel would be the lack of stress for the importance of reading from Scout. For example, when Scout was angered towards Miss Caroline Fisher, because she was ordered to convey a negative message towards Atticus: to stop teaching her how to read. This occasion was…

Many of us go to the movies filled with excitement that our favorite story is being recreated, however in turn many of us are disappointed. This can be from a variety of things including but not limited to: changes in characters, plot and themes. This not only affects famous books, short stories can also be dramatically changed in the film version. The same can be said for the story of Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, and the movie 2081 directed by Chandler Tuttle.…

A major difference between the short story and the film is the setting. In "The Birds", birds are attacking people all over the world. However, in The Birds the setting is only in one city. Having the birds in only one city attacking the people creates suspense because it makes the audience wonder why the birds are only in that one city and nowhere else. Also, in the short story,…

Throughout the movie, The Red Badge of Courage directed by John Huston, and the book, The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, many similarities and differences are clearly present. Though the book and the screen play were not written by the same person, many similarities are apparent. The first and arguably most important similarity between the book and the movie is the plot. The youth, Henry, has to decide between doing his duty and protecting his own life. As the platoon begins to march towards battle, he feels that he is the only person struggling with this pressing issue, but in the ensuing battle, many soldiers flee. Consumed by the rationalization that he needs to preserve his own life in order to preserve the army as a whole, Henry retreats during the second battle. In both the book and the movie, Henry works desperately to restore his own self-confidence by making irrational justifications for his own cowardice. In order to further justify his actions, he lies to those around him to explain his disappearance and then convinces himself that whatever they believe is true. Another similarity occurs later, when Henry again faces battle. The events that take place up to this point seem to change Henry from an immature boy to a courageous man, and he ends up confronting his fear and fighting valiantly. When every other soldier cowers before the enemy, he continues to advance, going so far as to capture the enemy’s flag. These similarities in plot help to make the movie a splendid rendition of the events in the book.…

The Book The Pearl is very different from the movie Because in the book Coyotito dies but in the movie he doesn’t . The only thing that is the same is that Kino throws the Pearl in the water and that he finds the great Pearl . Once kino does that he is happy that the Pearl will not bring him more bad luck because that was the only thing that the pearl gave him instead of money and happiness . The doctor help’s Coyotito ,but in the book he doesn’t help at all . To me the book is very different from the Movie but the book is better because the movie leaves out specific details in the book like coyotito dies in the book but not in the movie .…

The story and movie “The Ransom of Red Chief” is alike in many ways. It is also different. In both the movie and story, the kidnappers need $2,000. They set off to find someone to kidnap in order to get money back for the person. They came across a boy named Johnny Dorset. Also in the movie and story, Bill played Indians with Johnny. Johnny gave Bill the name “Old Hank” and he gave Sam the name “Snake-eye the Spy”. The kidnappers in both the movie and story also had to pay the father $250 for the return of Johnny.…
