This cycle repeats itself one or more times during system development and one or more times during procurement (purchase of a major end item previously developed or available commercially). For large systems, procurement follows a highly demanding DOD-funded development process and the prime manufacturer, almost by necessity, is the developer. In such cases, the competitive steps for a given phase of the acquisition process (listed above) would not be repeated during the procurement phase. Some things that I would change would be the misconception of communication within the industry during acquisition processing. The Federal Government has an obligation to conduct procurements in the most effective, responsible and efficient manner possible. Current market information is very vital as they define the requirements, so that the contracting officers can develop the acquisition strategies, seek opportunities for small businesses, and negotiate contract terms. Industry partners are the best source for this information, so productive interactions is very important and should be encouraged. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)…

Oh no!! As I was making my last rounds to check on my patients before my shift was over, suddenly, the electricity went out. We thought maybe it was just a power line down in the area or something of that sort, but as the desk-representatives began to call around on their half charged cellular devices to see what the problem was, we came to learn that the whole town of Oxford was experiencing a black out. “What a night this is going to be”, I thought. Thank God for generators!…

3G is the third generation of cell phone mobile communications standards and successor of the older 2G standards. 3G networks were a substantial improvement over 2G networks, offering previously unseen data transfer speeds. Although 3G has only been in the United States since 2002, it has been around much longer. 3G was first launched in Japan in 1998 pre-commercially and later commercially in 2001 (A Brand New). 3G was relatively slow to be adopted globally mostly due to the fact that 3G networks do not use the same radio frequencies as 2G, so mobile carriers had to build entirely new networks and license entirely new frequencies. The 3G standard is well known for its massive expansion of the mobile communications market post-2G and large advances of the mobile phone and by June 2007, the 200 millionth 3G subscriber had been connected to the network. An especially notable development during this time is the advent of the smartphone, a major step forward in mobile technology. 3G also introduced the term "mobile broadband" because its speed and capability make it a viable alternative for high-speed internet browsing (3G vs 4G).…

"Third-generation mobile networks, or 3G, came to the U.S. in 2003. With minimum consistent Internet speeds of 144Kbps, they were supposed to bring "mobile broadband." There are now so many varieties of 3G, though, that a "3G" connection can get you Internet speeds anywhere from 400Kbps to more than ten times that." (Segan, 2012)…

Media in Pakistan is in a very vibrant landscape, which has a mixed history of freedom and sanctions. The roots of Pakistani media are present in the pre partitioned British India, where the daily DAWN was founded by Quaid e Azam in 1941, and an other daily Nawa e Waqt was founded in 1940. The basis of foundation of these newspaper was to further the cause of Muslims in a relatively hostile Hindu environment. This made the basis for Pakistani media’s attitude. Pakistani media is bold and is known to endure the oppressions in different times by different governments.…
