He was even born on Castle Air Force base in Merced, California. Ray constantly moved with his family. He had a hard time making friends at all the new schools he went to. Ray’s girlfriend, Rosalind Ramsey announced that she was pregnant and that they would be having a baby. This made ray want to take his game to a whole new level. He wanted basketball to be his way to take care of his family. In 1944, Ray arrived on Storrs Campus to make his first appearance on USA basketball team at the Olympic festival in Colorado. Ray played for the eastern team and led all players in points and rebounds. He was then selected to the all-fest team. After his highschool career at SC, Ray decided to attend UCONN to play for the Huskies. Rays job was to create quick offense and scoring off the bench (JockBio). Ray did his job with outstanding accuracy. He led the Huskies to #2 overall ranking in the NCAA. His junior year, Allen became a first team All-American. He was awarded ‘’Big East’’ all first team MVP where he averaged 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Lee asked Ray if he would be interested in auditioning for a part in a movie called ‘’He Got Game’’. This was a movie on basketball movie. The movie featured many stars including Denzel Washington and Jim Brown. Allen auditioned and got the main part, which Allen later said , ‘’was no surprise’’(Jock.Bio). The next NBA season for Ray and the Bucks, they decided to make a coaching change. George karl would take over the coaching job. Karl had more than 1,000 wins already in his career, appeared in the playoffs 21 times and had more than 20 winning seasons. George ended his time with the bucks with a 205-173 record, 4 playoff appearances, the team’s first since 1986. Under Coach Karls authority, Ray averaged 17 points. Later, in the ‘99 -’00 season, ray played his very best yet. He averaged 22 points per game, which ranked him the fourth highest scorer in the NBA. That year he also was named to the NBA All-Star team. The bucks made it to the playoffs once again, but sadly lost to the pacers once again.
