It is almost a month when we had our educational tour for our subject, History 23, which toured us in historical places of Batangas and Laguna. Packed with excitement to learn and to see ancestral things, I prepared my things up even before the exact date of our tour. It was on the first day of August 2012, Wednesday at 6:00 in the morning, when our journey which I called “time travel” begun. Our first itinerary was on the ancestral house of Dr. Jose Rizal in Calamba, Laguna, where our national hero was raised. There, we saw a lot of things which really made me feel that I am travelling back on Rizal’s time because the antiques were all preserved. We took on pictures with some antique stuffs and parts of the house.
After going to Rizal’s ancestral house, we then went next to his brother’s house which is in Los Baños, Laguna. There lies the tomb of General Paciano Rizal. Inside the house, the pictures of Paciano’s family was displayed in the living room. After that, we had visited Don Leon Apacible’s house in Taal, Batangas. I was not able to take pictures in this itinerary because the battery of my camera was already emptied.
Our next stop was the house of Marcella Agoncillo, who made the Philippine flag. In this house, I saw a piano in which I wanted to play with but it is restricted. We had also lectures from this house as they told us the history of the house. As we had to go to our next itinerary, we had taken pictures in front of Marcella Agoncillo’s statue in which she is holding the Philippine Flag. We also went to Casa de Segunda in Lipa City, Batangas which I admired most. I was amazed to the structure of the house and how they preserved it. There, I saw how beautiful Segunda Katigbak is through her picture which is displayed in the house.
We had also visited the Taal Basilica, the largest stone church in Asia, which is in Taal, Batangas. The church was so big and so majestic in the inside for I came to think that I was in Europe. I was also amazed

In Albert Camus’s The Stranger, he shares with the reader, the life of an immensely complicated character. The story is presented to the reader by the character himself in most of the story. The character’s name is Meursault, a detached and semi-normal shipping clerk. Meursault appears to be rather stoic and is devoid of emotions. Meursault remains unaffected by passion and emotions throughout the story: however as the story progress towards the end Meursault is showing some feelings. Camus’s The Stranger is an example of existentialism and includes absurdism, as well as stoicism, some nihilism, and some naturalism and he shares with the reader examples of the aforementioned in almost every part of the story.…

It is surprising that the author was acknowledged with his writings and not on the bridges and roads that he made. This proves that a person can do best when he or she loves what he does. Although he had always dreamt of being a good story teller just like the hired man who was a suspect on every crime he was paid for, the author still followed the dream of his father for him to become an engineer. During those times, the father’s argument that there is no money on becoming a writer may be true. Nevertheless, the author had done a great story of his past. Together on his experiences was a clear, narrative view of how rich the Philippine culture is. And maybe, if have not been an Engineer, he may not have the good stories to share which he had told in a way that the reader can imagine that he or she is also a part of the story.…

I entered through the gate along Anda Street and the first thing I noticed was the presence of security guards wearing nice blue uniforms with large hats. I only found out later that they were wearing Guardia Civil attire and it did add a Spanish touch, as well as added security in the district. I would see dozens of them during my trip. The first museum I visited was the Kaisa Heritage Center as it was the one closest to where I entered. One officer was kind enough to direct to me to the museum and I found myself walking along Anda Street. It was not long before I saw a kalesa making its way through the old streets of Intramuros. The streets did feel old and also most of the buildings along the road looked old and had a hint of Spanish influence. And as I was walking to the Kaisa Heritage Center, I passed by the Palacio del Sana, which was the first clear tribute to the Spanish influence I saw. It was painted in the unmistakable bright red and yellow colors of the Spanish flag.…

The article shares the ideas and opinions in dialogues that usually represent conflicting views about Dr. Jose Rizal. Even though he is our national hero we still feel in need of a continuing dialogue on his ideas, principles and convictions. We know him as a profound thinker and a great doer who love our country and had remarkable patriotism. For that he was called the “First Filipino.”…

In the first museum, there were 11 galleries all in all including the old House of Representatives session hall that showed 2 big paintings, one being Juan Luna’s famous Spolarium. The 1st gallery featured the Philippines religious art from the 17th to 19th century. It contained various paintings, carvings and images of saints or santos. Some displays were damaged but it naturally came from its old age and is not a problem in viewing. The 2nd gallery featured the historical political events that included the Basi Revolt. The 3rd gallery is said to be the Philippine art of the academic and romantic period, in this gallery it featured mostly the great works of Juan Luna. It was nice seeing all the various works of Juan Luna and how abundant this museum is with his works. It’s nice how they also displayed the sculpture of the artist himself because of all the work he’s done. The 4th gallery is made up of works of 19th century Filipino sculptors notably Isabelo Tampinco y Lacandola and his successors. This was one of my favourite galleries because these sculptures are like what I see only on the television or internet, I was glad that I had the chance to see something like this in person. Gallery V is the tribute to our national hero himself, Dr. Jose Rizal. The gallery included not only paintings and images of Rizal, but also his own work including 4 sculptures and one fine drawing. The display that caught our attention was Rizal’s fine drawing of a structure, it was literally a fine drawing because of the details of it and it made me appreciate how talented Rizal really is not only in writing but also in art. Gallery VI contains the work of late contemporaries and artistic successors of the generation of Luna and Hidalgo including Amorsolo. One display here featured Fernando Amorsolo’s unfinished painting of a lady which included a chair and a table that had tools used for painting that is said to be his. The next gallery is contained the work of great…

After visiting the museum, I learned some new things, what was the life of our ancient ancestors before the Spanish came, there life was a peaceful life, they are tribes men and scattered all over the Philippines and they traded among each other and they also traded with Chinese people but when the Spaniards came everything change even their religious belief because the Spanish introduce Christianity and make them slaves in their own country. The Spanish tyranny continued for over 300 years and sparks some Filipino men to uprise, I learned that every province in our country that time has their own rebellion leader ready to fight the Spaniards but after years came the most Filipino who awaken his countrymen was Dr. Jose Rizal. He wrote his two novels: “Noli me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo”, both of them shows the corruption of the church in our country. Jose Rizal put flames in the heart of the Filipinos for them to woke up but this leads to his death, he was executed by the Spaniards in Bagumbayan. I also learned about how did the Spanish falls under the British Royal Navy, Spain was the pearl of the sea,…

Jose Rizal and his family got the surname 'Rizal' from his Chinese ancestor Domingo Lameo. Rizal means "Ricial or grains", and they started using it 1731. His true surname is Mercado, but to keep his family safe he used the surname Rizal. His brother insisted that he adopt the name Rizal in order to avoid the obvious stigma that the Alonzo y Mercado name had recieved from Paciano's association with Father Burgos, and the family's prominence in the native community.…

Another Sunday (August 11, 2013) has come and another Research day we need to do and the research what I am talking about is the Museum. A usual, I woke up early to prepare my things. I took a bath, I ate my breakfast then I brush my teeth and lastly I wore my clothes then I decided to leave the house and go to the meeting place. I ride on a jeep onto legarda then another jeep onto Manila City Hall. When I arrived at Manila City Hall, I quickly go to UDM to wait for the others to come. And when we are all there, we started walking until we reached the National Museum beside of Luneta Park. That was Sunday so we entered the Museum just for free then we walked around and keep taking pictures with the displays in the Museum. I keep observing every fossils in the cage and it was really amazing, if you will read the description you will really appreciate it because it was found long time ago. I was totally shock for some stuffs there like the birds, butterflies, rats, eagle, etc. because they been dissected and displayed there. At the same time I felt awesomeness because of the great things I saw inside of the museum. We went to the 2 Buildings of National Museum, which the 1st building shows the majority of the tribe’s thing and culture system and the 2nd Building shows the majority fossils they got from different corners of the Philippines. In the entrance, you will immediately saw the “spolarium” of Juan Luna because it will grab your attention aside from being big, you will be amazed if how did do that. I think all of the items there are worth Billion if you will sell it. But then, I enjoyed the Costumes of our” katutubos” and actually I really want to try it.…
