Reaction Paper About the Guest Speaker
Reaction Paper about the Guest Speaker
Last Wednesday, September 5, 2012, was our National Science Month Celebration with the theme: “Science in the K-12 curriculum, sustaining a better future.” Our guest speaker was born on July 15, 1965 in Cotabato City. She finished her study on Western Mindanao State University in 1978 as third honourable mention. She passed the examination for the qualifications on studying in Philippines Science High School and studied in Philippines Science High School-Diliman as a DOST scholar. She studied BS Agricultural Engineering in UP Los Baños on 1988 and passed the board exam as ninth placer. I was so amazed when I heard that the person in front of us talking got ninth place on an Engineering Board Exam.
She is now a Provincial Science Officer in Cotabato Province. Her husband is Condo N. Pham Jr. and has 4 children. She is non-other than Engr. Normina B. Pham.
Her topic is about innovation. She also shared about their reunion. Engineer said that in more than 240 elementary students passed the examination in Philippines Science High School, only 175 students graduated. Her classmates are now Vice President of Ateneo, bosses of young stars today, scientists that are finding cure to vaccines, AIDS, HIV and etc. She also talked about the birth of call center ten years ago. The call center’s birth is also the birth of cybersex which has clients all over the world.
She also said that innovation must be replicated. You must deliberate the information you’ve got, have imagination and initiative. Students are more productive on imagination than teachers. She said that we should bring in changes in our community. Do better in what you are doing now. And I quote, “The Future depends on you.”

    1. The Texas political culture is a blend of traditionalist and individualist. Both of the traits can be traced back to the formation of Texas. The individualist roots of the lone star state can be tied to several factors. First, the American settlers and the Mexican people who strived to better themselves through opportunities had an individual mindset that made them desire to settle the rugged land. Second, after the revolution Texas became its own nation and with its own constitution. Third, with the abundant resources of cattle, cotton, and oil Texas was economically strong and needing little federal support. The traditionalist roots can be found in a few areas. First Texas having the abundant resources has created many wealthy people who have a power over the government. Second, many laws in Texas favor large corporations and low taxation. Third, full citizen participation in politics and voting has never been encouraged as much as many other states due to the wealthy and vast size. These are some of the factors of the traditionalist and individualist political culture of Texas today based strongly on the Jacksonian democracy. Tradtionalistic culture also was brought by the Anglo southern immigrants and their values about slavery.…

Pursuing something new is fun and exciting, especially if the pursuit positively impacts someone else. I am grateful for the opportunity to re-enter grad school, this time at the doctorate level, to realize a dream that I’ve had since the beginning of my teaching career. My goal is to be sharp, skilled, creative and effective as a teacher and leader so that I can significantly influence the organization and overall culture of my school, other teachers, students, and the community. A necessary attribute of a great teacher should be the desire to seek ways to improve learning for all children. I am committed to learning and developing the knowledge and skills that a great leader needs to make a difference in education. I believe all students can have academic success.…

Vivian Greene quotes, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” This is a quote that empowers me as an adult learner. In fact, it is the single most inspiring quote that helped me through my undergraduate studies. It reminds me that I can’t let the storms of life and my own insecurities cripple my dream of becoming an educator. By accepting to “dance in the rain”, I am embracing every obstacle along my educational journey, and I will succeed. In fall 2014, I accomplished the first stage of my dream by obtaining an undergraduate degree and now seek to complete the second stage by obtaining a master’s degree.…

When I arrived the nervousness had eased off because everyone had made me feel welcomed. I was made to feel like a part of their family from the beginning to the end of the meeting. I seemed to have realized I missed going to these meetings and I miss the fellowship but it has not interfered with me staying sober.…
