The Teacher of Yesterday (30 years ago) Group one has a very good interpretation of a teacher thirty years ago. They presented what the teacher looks like that time, they also showed the reactions of the students every time the teacher will arrive, they will run as fast as they could do because they don’t want to be punished for staying outside their classrooms. They also indicated the punishments that time that’s why the students before were much disciplined. The teacher thirty years ago was really like “Miss Tapia” that really traumas the student and that pushes them to study harder.

“The Teacher of Today (2013-2020)” Our group (group two) was able to describe today’s teacher. It’s a kind of teacher that has a touch of traditional teacher and a touch of a future teacher. Teachers today still use traditional method of teaching but they are also reaching out for the modernization. The teacher in the picture is in the process of transition where the teacher is from the old method of teaching or old era then entering the world of gadgets and high technology. Before, books are really used to the point that the pages were shredded but now, we use tablets, I-pad, laptops and many more; also, apple before was just a fruit but now, apple is a gadget. Today’s teachers are also changing the look of the traditional teacher. Before, teachers used to dress like they’re wearing a long sleeves dress and long sarongs but know, teachers knows fashion and they started wearing clothes and accessories that are very fashionable. Also, punishment today is different from the punishment before because teachers today are not allowed to hurt the student that is why some of the students today were less disciplined.

“The Teacher of the Future” (2020-2050) The future teacher uses a modern gadget. I assumed by that time, there will be a robot teacher, a touch screen board etc. And in that picture, It’s also possible to study even you are far away from your school by the use of computer and wi-fi or internet connection. Students usually study in front of their laptop but the sad part is, no one in the picture is using a book. Maybe in the future, books will be forgotten because of the modern technology but I hope that will not happen. Also, if there will be robot teacher and computerized manual, teachers might lose their job but like what Prof. Corpuz said, teachers will never be forgotten because teachers are always behind those robots because it will not function if there is no teacher that is the main brain of the robot or computer. The good thing in this picture is you can access education anytime, anywhere.

Letters to a Young Teacher by Jonathan Kozol, I believe was a good book overall for all readers with just a few small points that I thought needed improvement. When reading this book, I thought Kozol made very strong points about education and being a student going into the teaching field, I believe all young teachers should read this book. Although it was written in letter form to an elementary teacher, the issues and discussions that take place throughout the book apply to all levels of education. Starting with the first few chapters, Kozol points out that teachers have to enjoy their first few years and that they must believe that every student in their class has inherent value to learn. This is a statement that stuck out to me and that…

My schooldays were of the nineteen fifties and sixties, the system of education at that time was Secondary Modern, the methods used would have been somewhat different from those used today, then the teacher would stand at the front of the class, and explain something, using their voice, a blackboard and a piece of chalk, the role of the pupil was to quietly listen, copy and/ or remember, the text and schoolbooks would remain at school at the end of the day. Now as in those days the role of imparting knowledge was important, that is where the similarity…

Children learn from example, and although parents are the ones who need to teach their kids to grow up to be cordial, interactive adults; teachers also have to set a proper example. As one climbs through the steady slope that is education, the way that a student is taught plays a crucial role on how they will perceive issues and go about to solve them. Therefore, a teacher’s style of educating will immensely affect their student and there must be a fair ratio of conformity and individualism.…
