I really enjoyed the trumpet and trombone solos the two performers played. I liked how they mixed in the dance with the jazz playing. The dancing was very original and the choreography was smooth. I…
2. How does the description of the kids performing the play give a view of the kind of culture the play is exploring?…
Act I, the story of Adam and Eve was a phenomenal piece that was truly effective emotionally and comprehensibly. Act II also had an impact on emotion as well, but not as strongly as the Adam and Eve story. The story worked out excellent for I felt it blended the stories to where everybody can understand because the bible can be very confusing. Both acts drew the crowd’s attention because the actors were so passionate in their roles, you knew the play was fake, but you couldn’t help but to get drawn into certain scenes that touched you emotionally. The actual script of the play I felt was amazing. It added some humor so the crowd was able to smile throughout some parts of the play then to feel like they were watching an soap opera.…
My experience for this production wasn’t what I expected. There were less talking and more action involved to express the character’s feeling. There were many ideas that were a good experience in this play, for instance the uses of the colors, the identical movements, and facial…
The nonfiction stories I have decided to write about are; “Who Will Light the Incense When Mother’s Gone?” by Andrew Lam and “Salvation” by Langston Hughes. Both of these stories are about a significant event in the authors lives in which they choose to write about. “Salvation” is a story about the author trying to find his way into the church and finally see the light or Jesus so his soul will be saved and his sins forgiven. ; “Who Will Light the Incense When Mother’s Gone?” was a writing about his mother having a hard time with the American culture and how her son, the author Andrew Lam, will be when he leaves home and how the traditions she raised him on slowly will disappear along with her when she passes along. Both stories seem to send a message of events in the author’s lives where they wrote about them because of certain memories in their lives, and I will briefly go through each story in different ways.…
I attended an A.A. meeting on April 5, 2010. Before the meeting I seemed very anxious. This was not my first meeting I have been to meetings before but they all seem to make me nervous. When I arrived the nervousness had eased off because everyone had made me feel welcomed. I was made to feel like a part of their family from the beginning to the end of the meeting. I seemed to have realized I missed going to these meetings and I miss the fellowship but it has not interfered with me staying sober.…
As a performing arts major, you have to have a large repertoire of shows you have seen or have listened to. I have never seen any shows live, only on television or video cassettes. In New York, I finally got to lose my broadway virginity and was able to watch what a real broadway show looks like, and I couldn't have picked a better musical than Hairspray. This musical has one of the most imaginative set design, incredible and catchy music, and important messages.…
I looked up this video before going to the library to watch it. I like to do this because it helps give me background information on what I am watching. Since I am in the upper level ASL classes, I like to challenge myself. So when I watched this movie, I had no volume and had to hear the stories by paying close attention to their signs and working on my receptive skills. The background info helps when I do not know a sign or get confused, because then I can use context clues to figure it out.…
I strongly believe that you need to give your children the freedom to make their own choices in the paths they take in their lives. If you don’t they might rebel and make poor choices that can lead to a poor lifestyle. Although you do have to step in every once in a while but I believe you need to make these interferences in their lives a very rare occasion. For instance when it comes to negative rap music and their videos; I believe a parent needs to step in and explain to the child why they shouldn’t watch this type of music video or listen to this type of music. And also shield the child to the best of their power.…
In recent years, controversy in Hip-hop culture has been in the mix of America media. From the hype of the lyrics and the impact that Hip-hop music has on the youth. It seems that political and media groups have been quick to place all of the blame on rap music for the trend in youth violence from the murders and the gang related problems. However, forms of music cannot be understood unless you study the fame of its historical and social context. Hip-hop culture reflects the young, urban, working-class African Americans and uses the voice to express the views of the everyday life and the struggle. Now in the pop culture Hip Hop music popularity has grown, and now commercialization has took place and the culture and the origin is controlled by the music industry.…
Over the past four decades, Hip Hop has evolved as a culture and art influencing the youths’ culture all over the world. Many youths in different parts of the world claim that Hip Hop reflects their economic, social, cultural, and political aspects of their lives because it communicates to them in a manner they understand. Therefore, it has cogent messages for many youths worldwide. “Hip Hop cannot be dismissed as a youth obsession or movement that will fade with time. Instead it should be considered as a social, economic, cultural, intellectual and political aspect that deserve academic attention similar to other African American arts and cultural movements such as Jazz, Blues, and Black Power movements,” (Alridge and Stewart, 190).…
The golden age of hip-hop is very different from the hip-hop that is popular now. Artists like T.I., Young Jeezy, 50 Cent, and Soulja Boy are some of the front-runners in hip-hop. Most of their songs are about guns, money, drugs, or…
The level of detail specified in these scores challenges the capabilities of performers to produce interpretations that completely represent all of the information present in the score. The struggle of a performer's attempt to interpret such demanding repertoire often serves as an intended dramatic element of these…

Hip hop is now a popular kind of music and is known and liked throughout the world. This kind of music goes back to the 1970s, at that time it was an underground urban development. It was born in south Bronx, New York. As the hip-hop movement began at society’s margins, its origins are shrouded in myth, enigma, and obfuscation. music that is mostly rap, a rhyming speech that is chanted along with some music. It consists of a stylized rhythmic. The usage of literary devices and a lot of lyrics along with peppy music recited in a faster pace makes it different from the other genres of music. In hip-hop, the artist or singer, generally describes himself or the surroundings. Also, hip hop is not really singing and more like reciting so I feel that put it on a level where the lyrics are the real hero and everything just revolves around them. Beginnings of the dancing, rapping, and deejaying components of hip-hop were bound together by the shared environment in which these art forms evolved.…
