From a very young age, children are taught to read. They might ask, why? Why do I need to understand how these squiggles on the paper come together to form words? But, the answer is always the same. Books are the basis of all society and culture. If no one had ever recorded laws, and poetry, and math, then they would all be lost by now, scattered to the wind. All over the world, throughout history, books have changed lives. From America to Egypt to Mesopotamia; from the 1st century to the 21st, books have had great effects on all people, no matter what race, religion, or gender. Books can and have changed our lives. Electronic information has benefited me in many ways, TV provides with information that helped me with my GCSE’s with channels like ‘Discovery’ as they provide a lot of documentary’s on subjects that are taught in schools but are better with imagery for me as I am a visual learner. There are however some major disadvantages of TV for me these are an easy distraction from homework or my chores when they have to be done and the fact that not all information provided on the TV can be trusted or be 100% accurate.…

TV lets relax to something interesting. Reading the paper is another way, but you don't find as much interest in a paper as you do in TV. Or listening to the radio in the “ seashells “ that are stated in the book Fahrenheit 451. Not as effective. Without TV, we wouldn't be brought to the amazing world TV is. But yes, it can be bad too. It can make us lazy, sure. It can make us bored, and unemployed ( but we don't want that now do we? ) but that's now I treat TV. In the book, Fahrenheit 451, you're put in the future where there is a minimum speed limit rather than a maximum speed limit, and everybody just watches TV, rather than talking, or visiting with family. Or even visiting with friends. Everybody uses the little “ seashells “, or in our case earbuds/in-ear-headphones to listen to music and the radio. Using them drowns out the speaking to each other part, and sort of ruins communication between us. Some people do this today to.…

Although television focuses more on the visual aspect than the substantive. I believe that there are two types of learners, those who learn by listening to information, and those who learn best by seeing it before them. For both types of learners TV is perfect. Television has almost everything you would like to learn. For instance if you wish to learn about animals, there is the Nature channel as well as the Animal planet. Granted, there are masses of not educational shows but, if you watch the educational ones you are bound to learn something. The educational shows have a wide range of…

Television is a useful tool. What if a strike was going at the local Savemart? We would not know unless we had a television, a friend who watches television, or went there in person. The news will tell you just that and the weather for the next week so it doesn’t rain while you’re swimming. While watching the National Geographic channel one can travel the entire African Savannah or the Australian Outback or even the deep murky trenches of the Pacific Ocean. It makes geography and biology projects a lot easier. When my Mother first came to America she couldn’t even say hello, but after watching shows like Sesame Street and The Price is Right she began to make brief conversation then it escalated from then. Television is a really useful tool.…
