Reading Fiction Books is more Enjoyable than Watching Movies
Are you tired of flashy scenes and showy special effects of movies? Do you still remember the enjoyment of reading books in midnight with a cup of hot coffee and an enquiring mind? As technology develops, movies seem to be increasingly popular among people from all walks of life. However, reading fiction books is still more enjoyable than watching movies, since it involves readers' imagination, describes figures' feelings and thoughts and allows readers to enjoy it on various occasions. First, while movies display all the scenes and actions in form of images, books provide readers a wild space to imagine, which is based on the readers' preference and aesthetic sensibilities. As the saying goes, there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. Hence, fix images cannot satisfy all the audience. For instance, when I read Alice in Wonderland, I had a set of imagination in my mind which could even change according to my mood. But after I saw the movie of the same name, I felt that the images were confined. What's more, I was disappointed by the appearance of the Alice. Thus, the pleasure reduced. Description of emotional states and changes is also an important factor. Thoughts and feelings can help readers to understand some behaviours of figures. Sometimes they themselves are the highlight of a story. Nonetheless, they are usually too profound and subtle to be expressed by expressions and body language. Thus, a description in words is a dispensable part of a story. In this perspective, books are more capable to describe what is happening in one's mind than movies are, which makes them more intelligible and attractive. Finally, reading books is much more convenient than watching movies. You can enter the amazing imaginary worlds created by books when you are on a bus or a train, when you are waiting in line and when you are in a classroom and get tired of doing exercises. On the contrary, watching movies requires relatively strict conditions. The best

Why is it that when a book gets it’s own movie that there are several differences between the book and the movie? Some people argue that the book is always better than the movie. There is a reason for this. Firstly, in most book to movie adaptations small details are changed or are just not included. Secondly, the movie often takes short cuts and doesn’t touch on certain aspects that were described in the book. Lastly, when reading a book you are free to make your own subtext and fill in the blanks with your imagination. The movie adaptations of books have always lacked the detail that's in the book, some things are completely cut from the movie to maintain a well paced story, and it fills in the gaps for us making the experience less unique.…

When you read a book do you visualize the movie in your head? When books are turned into movies most the time the author’s message is ruined, and the integrity of the novel. When someone writes a novel they write it from their point of view, their vision, it’s their story. But when a director hears, or reads the book they see it differently and from their point of view. Novels become a different novel when turned into a Hollywood movie because no one visualizes the same characters, settings or themes.…

Have you ever read a book, and then they were going to make it into a movie? This happens many times, it is one way to get inspiration for the movie process. The trouble is, they don’t always transfer the same over to the big screen. As an audience, we tend to compare the two, and decide which one we would recommend, either the movie or the book. My first reason is; the movie again had more visuals than the book. Expanding on this; the movie had more scenery to show the viewer where the story takes place. Additionally, the movie also showed the the time era it took place in through setting; this in turn gives the viewer a better idea of how to perceive the story in this aspect. Second the movie had the advantage of being able to show what was going on through setting. My first reason being the movie showed the position of the characters and their behavior; this in turn displayed the tension through setting. Moreover, the movie also showed the main character’s whereabouts better through visual transitions. Last but not least, the movie showed more setting changes than the book. The book could only tell the reader that there was a change in the setting; these are usually major changes; the movie could show the more subtle ones, adding to the quality of the experience. The movie also set the mood better than the book through setting changes or adjustments. Concluding this; I believe the movie expressed the setting better than the…

Honestly, movies are easier at trying figure out their theme then books. For books, you need to use more auditory focus to find the theme, but when watching a movie you need equal amount of visual and auditory to truly see the theme of that particular movie. Books take more time then movies, but they go more in depth. It adds more details and ideas to theme of a book then someone watching a movie. Honestly I prefer movies only for enjoyment and books for figuring out the structure that the author had put the time into for the reader to…

Books are precious pieces that improve one’s knowledge and help define one’s personality by relating themselves to characters within the text. As Vladimir Nabokov said in Good Readers and Good Writers “The reader should identify himself or herself with the hero or heroine.”(Nabokov, 973) I always believed that by reading a book you become one with yourself by somehow feeling all the problems of the characters and become completely absorbed in their world, therefore feeling like you have a purpose as you read.…

Another point is that watching movies is an efficient way of teaching and learning. Every person learns in a different method and watching movies helps a visual learner in English class. By watching films, students can understand different points of view and perspectives of the characters whereas books rarely show more than one point of view. Furthermore, some learners can’t grab information efficiently when the teacher explains it to them as they need detailed…

As a reader is submersed into the narrative, they may lose track of time and become unaware of their current environment (Green, 2004). Researchers have shown that while reading fiction, the simulation of social experience that occurs might engage the same social-cognitive processes employed during real-world social comprehension (Mar, Oately, Peterson, 2009). Therefore reading fiction stimulates social experience and allows the reader to feel emotions in conflicts and relationships of the stories characters (Mar et., 2009). Mar and colleagues found that stimulating social experiences through fiction allows individuals to improve social skills, especially empathy (Mar et.,…
