Various funding partners to achieve the performance targets above. It is further recommended that the collaborative sport review process undertaken by the national funding partners to be used as the bas is for validating the performance targets above via a process to set specific sport by sport athlete performance targets. In addition, this process should be used to identify other key performance indicators which will demonstrate progress toward the national targets. These could include such things as the number of sports winning medals, the number of top 8 performances, etc. the targets need to be supported by athlete development targets established using placed on an Olympic/Paralympics’ team, number of medalists on an Olympic/Paralympics’ team ,etc.
2. Targets for the sport system
There are numerous sport system development targets that need to be established. Three main areas of key performance indicators or targets for the sport system were identified as being important including: ❖ Managing knowledge, learning, and innovation ❖ Core sport system activities ❖ Athlete and coach satisfaction
While a list of possible components of the sport system will include the actual setting of the key performance indicators. The country has most of the components of a successful, but needs leadership, coordination, and accountability.
INITATIVES:
Research on international sport development system has identified 10 common characteristics successful international sport systems. The Italian sport system experiences significant gap sin 9 of these 10 characteristics when measured against international best practices. Priority areas for action and initiatives have been identified to address the gaps in both the operation all elements and policy elements of the Italian sport system. From a program or operational perspective, the following are measured of what Italian’s must do to achieve success in the various characteristics.
