Real Love Based Upon the Bible
Real love
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails…. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been ineffective. 1 Cor. 15:10
Let love be sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. Love one another with mutual affection: anticipate one another in showing honor. Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality. Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Have the same regard for one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible on your part live at peace with all. Beloved, do not look for revenge but leave room for the wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine. I will repay,” says the Lord. Rather, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink;” for by doing so, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good. Romans 12: 9-21
Owe nothing to anyone, except to love another. Romans 13:8
But God proves his love for us in while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. John

We are told that in God 's eyes, our natural self is worthless and all we deserve is to go to hell. However, when we accept Jesus as our Savior, God sees us, through the blood of his Son, as having immense value. Also, sometimes we are told that once we accept Jesus as Savior, if we have enough faith, sicknesses, addictions, and other problems will be taken care of by God. If these problems do not disappear, then we, evidently, are sinning by not having enough faith.…

Some may argue that the greatest love story to date is Romeo and Juliet: the love; the passion; the unlikely pair. Although Romeo and Juliet may be a great tale of two unlikely lovers, it could never compare to Our Christian Story. However, throughout these two renowned stories, elements of love and sacrifice can be demonstrated frequently. Out of love, we are able to make sacrifices for those whom which we hold dear to our hearts; when humanity betrayed God by consuming fruit from the forbidden tree, He displayed an unconditional love by sending His only son, Jesus Christ, to absolve us from sin. This represents a vital bond of love that has, over time, remained between God and humanity, but to experience this bliss we must freely embrace…

In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus is teaching that one should love their enemies. In order to love an enemy, Jesus requires us to "Love" our enemies, not hate them. He wants us to show good will towards our enemies. “Bless” those who curse us. Even if someone speaks evil of us, we are to speak kind words to them. “Do good” to those that hate us. There may be people that do not like us for various reasons. We are to treat them like we want to be treated no matter what they do to us. “Pray” for those who spitefully use us and persecute us. We are to pray for our enemies, not just about them, but for their well-being and their salvation.…

Loving your enemies does not seem easy, praying for them even harder, and doing both for those who persecute you, practically impossible. Conversely, during the Sermon on the Mount, recorded in Matthew 5:43-48, Christ calls his followers to love their enemies, a calling that perhaps seemed just as contrary to first century culture as today’s culture. However, as seen through Christ’s ministry on earth, he did not call his followers to what seemed easy, but to radically transform their lives to adhere to a higher standard of righteousness. This paper will, through investigating the historical, literary, and theological background of the passage, address Christ’s calling to a higher standard of righteousness, in pursuit of perfection through…
