CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS
BACKGROUND

INTRODUC TION

IT'S THE 21ST CENTURY AND "JUNK FOOD" HAS GONE GLOBAL.
FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE, JUNK FOOD IS NOW AVAILABLE ALL
OVER THE WORLD. WE SEE IT MOST EVERYWHERE WE GO -- IN
GROCERY AND CONVENIENCE STORES, FAST-FOOD RESTAURANTS,
ON TELEVISION -- USUALLY LOOKING VERY APPEALING. JUNK FOOD
IS A DERISIVE SLANG TERM FOR FOOD THAT IS OF LITTLE
NUTRITIONAL VALUE AND OFTEN HIGH IN FAT, SUGAR, SALT, AND
CALORIES IT IS WIDELY BELIEVED THAT THE TERM WAS COINED BY
MICHAEL JACOBSON, DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER FOR SCIENCE IN
THE PUBLIC INTEREST, IN 1972
JUNK FOODS TYPICALLY CONTAIN HIGH LEVELS OF
CALORIES FROM SUGAR OR FAT WITH LITTLE PROTEIN, VITAMINS
OR MINERALS. FOODS COMMONLY CONSIDERED JUNK FOODS
INCLUDE SALTED SNACK FOODS, GUM, CANDY, SWEET DESSERTS,
FRIED FAST FOOD, AND SUGARY CARBONATED BEVERAGES.

MILLIONS OF STUDENTS EAT JUNK FOOD. STUDENTS CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT AND
NEVER LISTEN TO ANYONE SAYING IT IS BAD FOR HEALTH. JUNK FOODS CONTAINS HIGH LEVELS OF CALORIES FROM FAT, SUGAR,
SALT THAT HAVE LITTLE PROTEINS, VITAMINS, AND MINERALS. AND IT CAN BE
ADDICTIVE TO PEOPLE. NOW AS OF THIS YEAR, MANY PEOPLE ESPECIALLY
STUDENT PREFERRING TO EAT JUNK FOOD CAN BE APPEALING FOR A VARIETY OF
REASONS INCLUDING CONVENIENCE, PRICE AND TASTE. FOR CHILDREN/STUDENT
WHO DO NOT ALWAYS UNDERSTAND THE HEALTH CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR
EATING HABITS, JUNK FOODS MAY APPEAR ESPECIALLY APPETIZING. HOWEVER REGULARLY CONSUMING FATTENING JUNK FOODS CAN BE
ADDICTIVE FOR CHILDREN AND LEAD TO COMPLAINANTS TOO OBESITY, CHRONIC
ILLNESS, LOW SELF-ESTEEM AND EVEN DEPRESSION, AS WELL AS AFFECTING
HOW THEY PERFORM IN SCHOOL AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.

ACCORDING TO THIS STUDY, STUDENTS/KIDS WHO ATE JUNK FOODS
WERE MORE LIKELY TO CONSUME A HIGHER AMOUNT OF CALORIES,
FAT CARBOHYDRATES AND ADDED SUGARS IN ONE FAST FOOD MEAL.
THEY WERE ALSO LESS LIKELY TO CONSUME AS MUCH FIBER, MILK,
AND FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AS CHILDREN WHO DID NOT EAT FAST
FOOD. STUDENT WHO CONSUMED MORE FATTENING FOODS WHILE
EATING FOOD AT OTHER MEALS. WERE ALSO LIKELY IN GENERAL, TO
EAT MORE UNHEALTHY FOOD AT OTHER MEALS.
SOME STUDENT DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT IMPORTANCE OF EATING
NUTRITIOUS FOOD PEOPLE WHO ARE ALWAYS EATING JUNK FOODS
ARE MORE PRONE TO LEAD TO HAVE OBESITY BECAUSE OF HIGH
SODIUM INTAKE THOSE JUNKFOOD HAVE BEEN ADDICTED FOR MANY,
BUT WHAT THEY DID NOT KNOW IS THAT IT CAN HAVE BAD AFFECTS
TO THE BODY DIGESTIVE SYSTEM. IT CAN DESTROY THE ACTUAL DIET
AND APPETITE.

SETTING OF THE STUDY

HAVING ESTABLISHED THE UNCIANO GENERAL HOSPITAL, INC, WITH A
100-BED CAPACITY IN 1977 AT THE CORNER OF V. MAPA-GUADALCANAL
STREETS, IN OLD STA. MESA, MANILA, DR. NATIVIDAD V. UNCIANO, OUR
FOUNDERS, BELIEVED IN THE NEED FOR TRAINING MORE
PROFESSIONALS AND TECHNICIANS ETC., IN THE HEALTH-RELATED
DISCIPLINES. THIS BELIEF BECAME A REALITY BY SIMULTANEOUSLY
OPERATING THE UNCIANO GENERAL HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING AT
THE SAME SITE. THE COURSE ON X-RAY TECHNOLOGY WAS OFFERED IN 1978,
FOLLOWED BY LIBERAL ARTS, PRE-DENTISTRY, PRE-NURSING, A.B
PSYCHOLOGY, FOOD TECHNOLOGY AND MIDWIFERY IN 1980. THE FIRST
BATCH OF OUR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE AND NURSING GRADUATES
CAME IN 1981. THE COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY OPENED ITS DOORS IN
1982.

WITH THE MULTIPLE COURSES BEING OFFERED IN THE HEALTHRELATED FIELDS, THE SCHOOL BECAME KNOWN AS THE UNCIANO
PARAMEDICAL COLLEGES WHICH WAS REVERTED IN 1990 TO THE NAME
OF UNCIANO COLLEGES INC. IN EARLY 1990, OUR FOUNDERS ACQUIRED THE BUILDINGS AND
LOTS OF A LARGE HOSPITAL AND SCHOOL AT THE CIRCUMFERENTIAL
ROAD IN ANTIPOLO WHICH HAVE BEEN REFURNISHED AND IMPROVED
TO HOUSE THE UNCIANO MEDICAL CENTER AND THE UNCIANO
COLLEGES (ANTIPOLO), INC, WHICH OPENED ITS DOORS AT THE START
OF SCHOOL YEAR 1990-1991. THESE TWO INSTITUTIONS STAND OUT
NOT ONLY AS IMPOSING LAND MARKS IN ANTIPOLO ITSELF BUT ALSO AS
THE BASTIONS IF LEARNING AND HEALTH CARE IN THE PROVINCE
RIZAL.

A YEAR LATER, THE FOLLOWING COURSES WERE OFFERED:
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN IN PHYSICAL THERAPY, BACHELOR
OF SCIENCE IN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY, BACHELOR OF
SCIENCE IN RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY, GRADUATE IN DENTAL
TECHNOLOGY, CAREGIVER COURSE AND PREPARATORY.
(NURSERY, KINDERGARTEN), ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL
EDUCATION.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

THIS STUDY PRIMARILY AIM TO KNOW/ DETERMINE THE REASONS AND ITS EFFECT
WHY ELEMENTARY STUDENTS PREFER JUNKFOOD RATHER THAN HEALTHY/
NUTRITIOUS FOODS. SPECIFICALLY, THIS SOUGHT TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: 1. WHAT IS THE PROFILE OF THE RESPONDENTS IN TERMS OF:
A. AGE;
B. SEX; AND
C. YEAR LEVEL 2. WHAT IS THE MAIN REASON WHY ELEM. STUDENTS ADDICTED TO JUNKFOODS?
3. WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE OF EATING A JUNKFOODS?
4. WHAT ARE THE EFFECT OF JUNKFOODS TO THE STUDENTS?
5. HOW CAN THE STUDENT AVOID THE NEGATIVE EFFECT OF JUNKFOODS THAT CAN
RUIN THEIR STUDIES?

OBJECTIVES 1. TO KNOW THE PROFILE OF THE RESPONDENTS IN
TERMS OF AGE, SEX AND YEAR LEVEL.
2. TO KNOW THE MAIN REASONS IN ELEM. STUDENTS
ADDICTED TO JUNKFOODS.
3. TO DETERMINE THE ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE IN
EATING JUNKFOODS.
4. TO IDENTIFY THE EFFECT OF JUNKFOOD TO THE
STUDENTS.
5. TO FIND WAYS TO PREVENT JUNKFOODS FROM RUINING
STUDENTS LIFE.

S IGNI FI CANCE OF THE S TUDY

THE RESEARCHERS BELIEVE THAT THIS STUDY IS OF GREAT HELP TO THE FOLLOWING: STUDENTS- THIS RESEARCH WILL GUIDE ELEM. STUDENTS TO KNOW WHAT ARE EFFECTS OF BEING
ADDICTED TO JUNKFOODS. PARENTS- THEY WILL KNOW THE BAD EFFECT OF EATING JUNKFOODS, AND GUIDE THEIR CHILDREN TO
AVOID EATING JUNKFOODS. PARENTS ARE ALSO THE ONE WHO PREPARE PROPER FOODS FOR
THEIR CHILDREN. COMMUNITY- THIS RESEARCH WILL HELP THE PEOPLE TO AVOID BUYING ANG SELLING JUNKFOODS. SCHOOL- THIS RESEARCH WILL HELP THE SCHOOL TO AVOID AND PREVENT FROM SELLING JUNKFOODS
AND HELP THE STUDENT TO EAT HEALTHY FOODS. FUTURE RESEARCHER- THIS RESEARCH WILL HELP THE FUTURE RESEARCHER TO KNOW ABOUT
JUNKFOOD’S
LIKE WHAT EFFECT BEING ADDICTED TO JUNKFOODS AND OTHER BAD THINGS THAT
YOU GET IN JUNKFOODS.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

THIS STUDY ENTITLED ‘REASONS AND ITS EFFECT WHY
ELEMENTARY STUDENTS PREFER JUNKFOODS RATHER THAN
HEALTHY/NUTRITIOUS FOODS’ THE RESPONDENCE OF THE
STUDY ARE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AT UNCIANO COLLEGES

JUNKFOODS IN SCHOOLS
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WHEN SALSA PASSES AS A
VEGETABLE IN THE SCHOOL CAFETERIA AND STUDENTS CAN BUY
SODA AND CANDY FROM VENDING MACHINES ON CAMPUS. WITH
THIS IN MIND WE CAN ONLY BEGIN TO WONDER WHAT THE
FUTURE HOLDS FOR TODAY'S ADOLESCENTS. WHEN STUDENTS
ARE EXPOSED TO A LIFE OF POOR NUTRITION, THE RESULT CAN BE
OBESITY AND REGRETS. IN THIS LITERATURE JUNKFOODS ARE EASY TO DIGEST BECAUSE
IT’S NOT HEAVY FOODS.

FOR COUNTLESS CHILDREN, BREAKFAST OR LUNCH DROPS
OUT OF A VENDING MACHINE AT SCHOOL. THIS CAN BE A
CAN OF SODA, PERHAPS WASHING DOWN A CHOCOLATE BAR
FOLLOWED BY A BAG OF POTATO CHIPS. STUDENTS MAY BE
JUNK FOOD JUNKIES BUT THE SCHOOLS ARE HOOKED AS
WELL AND HAVE BECOME INCREASINGLY DEPENDENT ON THE
REVENUE THAT SODA AND CANDY MACHINES BRING IN EACH
YEAR (MUELLER, 2007). IN THIS LITERATURE SOME STUDENTS ARE BRINGING
JUNKFOODS WITH THEIR LUNCH AS WELL TO SKIP HUNGER.

WHILE SODA SALES MAY HELP SUPPLEMENT THE SCHOOL'S
BOTTOM LINE, HEALTH EXPERTS ARE INCREASINGLY
WORRIED THAT SOFT DRINKS ARE CONTRIBUTING TO A
STUDENT'S POOR HEALTH. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT TEENAGED BOYS' SODA CONSUMPTION HAS TRIPLED IN THE
LAST 20 YEARS AND DOUBLED FOR GIRLS (CSPI). TEENS
NOW DRINK TWICE AS MUCH SODA AS MILK. IN THIS LITERATURE THE WATER IGNORED BY THE
STUDENTS AND THEY BUY SODA INSTEAD.

ON THE OTHER HAND, CHILDREN ARE TAUGHT IN THE
CLASSROOM ABOUT GOOD NUTRITION AND THE VALUE OF A
HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, BUT WE CONTINUE TO MAKE THE JUNK
FOOD AVAILABLE TO THEM. OUR CHILDREN'S EATING HABITS
ARE ENGRAINED IN THEM FROM A YOUNG AGE, SO WHAT
ARE WE TEACHING OUR CHILDREN? AT WHAT COST IS IT OK
FOR JUNK FOOD TO BE AVAILABLE TO THEM AT SCHOOL? IN THIS LITERATURE THE CHILDREN HAS UNHEALTHY
LIFESTYLE BECAUSE OF JUNKFOOD THAT’S WHY THEY
TAUGHT THE CHILDREN HAVE GOOD NUTRITION.

STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THERE IS AN INCREASINGLY LARGE
AMOUNT OF OUR CHILDREN WITH DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE
TWO. THIS DISEASE WAS AT ONE POINT AN ADULT'S
DISEASE, BUT THE LIFESTYLES WE NOW LEAD THIS HAS
BECOME AN ISSUE FOR OUR CHILDREN. THE RATE OF TYPE 2
DIABETES IS AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH IN AMERICAN CHILDREN.
IN SEPTEMBER LAST YEAR A REPORT BY THE INSTITUTE OF
MEDICINE HAD CRITICIZED THE EFFORTS TO TACKLE CHILD
OBESITY (CBC, 2007). THE REPORT SAID ALTHOUGH MANY
MEASURES WERE IN PLACE THEY WERE PROVING
INEFFECTIVE.
IN THIS LITERATURE THEY HAVE STUDIES ABOUT LARGE
AMOUNT OF CHILDREN WITH DIABETES AND OTHER DISEASE

LOCAL LITERATURE SCHOOL VS JUNKFOOD

JUNK FOOD IN SCHOOL IS A GREAT IDEA BECAUSE IT
APPEALS TO MORE KIDS. IT BRINGS MONEY TO THE
SCHOOL AND AS A YOUNG ADULT IN HIGH SCHOOL YOU
SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHOOSE WHAT YOU EAT. IN THIS LITERATURE THE SCHOOL ARE SELLING
JUNKFOODS BECAUSE KIDS FAVORITE JUNKFOOD

JUNK FOOD IS TASTY AND KIDS WANT TO EAT IT. IT GIVES
YOU A QUICK ENERGY BOOST TO STAY UP TO BE ATTENTIVE
TO THEIR INSTRUCTOR WHEN THEY’RE TIRED. IT'S ALSO
CHEAP SO THAT THE LESS FORTUNATE KIDS CAN AFFORD IT.
IT'S A BIG VARIETY SO MORE KIDS CAN CHOOSE WHAT THEY
WANT TO EAT INSTEAD OF BEING FORCE TO EAT FOOD
CHOSEN FOR THEM. JUNK FOOD ALSO BRINGS MONEY TO
THE SCHOOL. IN THIS LITERATURE THE KIDS WANT TO EAT JUNKFOOD
BECAUSE OF DELICIOUS TASTE AND TO RECOVER THEIR
ENERGY.

JUNK FOOD IS VERY PROFITABLE AND THAT MONEY IS MUCH
NEEDED. SINCE SO MANY KIDS ARE ABSENT DAILY AND THE
SCHOOL LOSES MONEY. JUNK FOOD IS VERY POPULAR IT
BRINGS IN BIG REVENUE AND IT'S VERY EASY TO OBTAIN.
THE MONEY THE SCHOOL MAKES OFF SELLING THE FOOD
CAN BE PUT TO GOOD USE. THE SCHOOL DESPERATELY
NEEDS MORE BOOKS AND DESKS. IN THIS LITERATURE THE MONEY OF THE STUDENTS WASTE
IN THEIR ALLOWANCE IN JUNKFOOD BECAUSE IT’S CHEAP
AND IT’S VERY POPULAR AND EASY TO BUY.

WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT IT'S THE KIDS’ CHOICE OF
WHAT THEY EAT. KIDS ARE GOING TO EAT JUNK FOOD
REGARDLESS IF IT SOLD AT SCHOOL OR NOT SO THAT'S NOT
HELPING THE PROBLEM. SO WHY NOT AT LEAST MAKE SOME
MONEY THAT THE SCHOOL NEEDS. THE KID SHOULD EAT
WHATEVER MAKES THEM HAPPY. LET THE PARENTS DEAL
WITH WHAT THEIR KID EATS. IN THIS LITERATURE THE CHILDREN CHOOSE WHAT THEY
WANT TO EAT WHATEVER THEY ARE HEALTHY OR UNHEALTHY.

THEREFORE I THINK NOT HAVING JUNK FOOD IN HIGH
SCHOOL IS VERY SELFISH. THE ADULTS BEHIND THIS RULE
NEVER HAD TO EXPERIENCE THIS SO THEY FEEL IT’S NO
PROBLEM. ALSO IF THE SCHOOL STOCKS UP ON FOOD KIDS
DON'T BUY AND THE SCHOOL LOSES MONEY THAT THEY
ALREADY DON'T HAVE. THE KIDS WILL STILL EAT THE JUNK
FOOD REGARDLESS. IT'S THEIR DECISION IF THEY WANT TO
EAT HEALTHY OR NOT SO LET THEM CHOOSE IN THIS LITERATURE THE SCHOOL HAVE NOT CARE ABOUT
FOOD THEY SELL IN CANTEEN OF EXAMPLE.

FOREIGN STUDIES

JUNK FOOD IS OVER-PROCESSED AND TOO EASY TO DIGEST.
JUNK FOOD REQUIRES VERY LITTLE PROCESSING BY THE
BODY BECAUSE IT IS MOSTLY SUGAR, OVER-PROCESSED
GRAINS AND EMPTY FILLERS LIKE HYDROLYZED STARCHES,
CELLULOSE AND MALTODEXTRIN. THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM IS
LIKE ANY OTHER SYSTEM IN THE BODY, IF YOU DON'T USE IT,
YOU LOSE IT. YOUR GUT BECOMES LAZY. IN THIS STUDY THEY EXPLAIN ABOUT THE INFORMATION OF
JUNKFOOD ABOUT PROCESS OF JUNKFOOD IN THE BODY AND
WHAT THINGS EFFECT ABOUT JUNKFOODS.

RESEARCHERS ARE BEGINNING TO COMPILE AN IMPRESSIVE
WEALTH OF SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO EXPLAIN HOW THE
NUTRITIONAL STATUS, AND SPECIFICALLY THE DIET OF A
MOTHER DURING GESTATION, PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE IN
SETTING THE INITIAL GENE SET OR EXPRESSION FOR THE
NEWBORN CHILD THAT WILL DETERMINE SUSCEPTIBILITY
TOWARD MANY CHRONIC DISEASES THROUGHOUT LIFE.
IN THIS STUDY THE RESEARCHER FINDING A EVIDENCE ABOUT
JUNKFOOD BECAUSE OF CHRONIC DISEASE OR ILLNESS,
INITIAL GENE AND NEWBORN CHILD.

IF NUTRITION IS SO GOOD AT PREVENTING AND EVEN REVERSING
CHRONIC DISEASE, WHY ISN'T IT TAUGHT BY THE PRACTITIONERS OF
CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE? WHY ISN'T YOUR DOCTOR GIVING YOU THE
FUNDAMENTALS OF NUTRITION? WHY DON'T YOU SEE TELEVISION ADS
PROMOTING NUTRITION? THE REASON IS QUITE SIMPLE. THERE'S NO
PROFIT IN IT. LET'S FACE IT, CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE IS A COMMERCIAL
ENTITY. PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES ARE IN BUSINESS TO MAKE
MONEY. THEY WANT TO MAXIMIZE THEIR PROFITS. THEIR MISSION
STATEMENT SHOULD READ "OUR GOAL IS TO MAXIMIZE PROFITS, NO
MATTER WHAT IT TAKES, AS LONG AS WE CAN GET AWAY WITH IT." IN THE STUDIES MANY QUESTIONS ARE WRITTEN HERE IT SAYS WHY
JUNKFOOD SELL’S BECAUSE ITS POPULAR AND EASY TO SELL.

THE KNOWLEDGE THAT JUNK FOODS SUCH AS BACON
CHEESEBURGERS, FRIES, SHAKES, DONUTS AND CHIPS ARE
DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR HEALTH IS NO NEW REVELATION. THESE
FOODS ARE PACKED WITH
HYDROGENATED TRANS-FATS, REFINED CARBOHYDRATES AND
SUGARS THAT BOOST BLOOD PRESSURE, INCREASE BLOOD GLUCOSE
AND FLOOD CELLS WITH DYSFUNCTIONAL ADVANCED GLYCATION END
PRODUCTS (AGE'S) THAT LEAD TO SUBOPTIMAL CELLULAR FUNCTION,
GENETIC MUTATIONS AND METABOLIC HAVOC. IN THIS STUDIES JUNKFOOD ARE DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR HEALTH IS
NO NEW REVELATION BUT THE EFFECT OF EATING JUNKFOOD ARE
WRITTEN HERE.

ACCORDING TO NETWORK RULES THAT REGULATE BRITISH TV,
SEX SCENES ARE KEPT OFF THE AIRWAVES UNTIL AFTER NINE
PM IN ORDER TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM THEIR INFLUENCE.
THE RESULTS OF A RECENT STUDY CONDUCTED BY
RESEARCHERS BY THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL ARE NOW
PROMPTING CALLS FOR SIMILAR RESTRICTIONS ON FOOD
ADVERTISEMENTS.
IN THIS STUDIES EXPLAINS THAT IN BRITISH THEY DON’T AVOID
TO COMMERCIAL IT IN ORDER TO PROTECT ADDICTIVE IN
JUNKFOOD.

LOCAL STUDIES

THE MOST RECENT STUDY TO EXAMINE THE ADDICTIVE QUALITY OF
FATTENING FOODS WAS PUBLISHED ONLINE MARCH 28 BY THE
JOURNAL NATURE NEUROSCIENCE. FOR THE PAPER, RESEARCHERS AT
THE SCRIPPS RESEARCH INSTITUTE IN JUPITER, FLA., EXAMINED THREE
GROUPS OF LAB RATS THAT WERE FED VARIOUS DIETS FOR 40 DAYS.
ONE GROUP WAS GIVEN TYPICAL RAT CHOW ONLY; A SECOND GROUP
WAS OFFERED RAT CHOW, PLUS A BUFFET OF BACON, SAUSAGE,
CHEESECAKE, CHOCOLATE FROSTING AND OTHER DELECTABLE
GOODIES FOR ONE HOUR A DAY; AND A THIRD GROUP WAS ALLOWED
EXTENDED ACCESS TO THE FATTY BUFFET FOR UP TO 23 HOURS A DAY. IN THIS STUDIES JUNKFOOD PUBLISH ON MARCH 28 BY JOURNAL
NATURE NEUROSCIENCE AND JUNKFOOD BECOME POPULAR THE KIDS.

POOR EATING HABITS DEVELOPED AT AN EARLY AGE LEAD
TO A LIFETIME OF REAL HEALTH CONSEQUENCES. SCHOOL
IS WHERE CHILDREN SPEND MOST OF THEIR TIME, AND IT IS
WHERE WE LAY THE FOUNDATION FOR HEALTHY HABITS.
THAT'S WHY NEW JERSEY IS THE FIRST STATE TO ADOPT A
COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL NUTRITION POLICY THAT BANS
CANDY, SODA, AND OTHER JUNK FOOD. IN THIS STUDIES EATING JUNKFOOD WILL EARLY YOUR
LIFETIME, SCHOOL SELL’S IT AND THE CHILDREN ALWAYS
BUY THEM.

IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN INHALE HALF YOUR DAILY
ALLOTMENT OF CALORIES AS YOU TURN LEFT OUT OF THE
DRIVE-THRU, OFTEN THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN
YOU AND A FEW EXTRA CHINS IS WILLPOWER—THAT OH-SO—
ELUSIVE ABILITY TO HALT THE URGE TO INDULGE. IN THIS STUDIES THEY EXPLAIN ABOUT CALORIES BECAUSE
PEOPLE ARE HAVING DIFFICULTIES IN EATING JUNKFOOD IN
FAST-FOOD IN OVER THE WORLD.

REGULAR READERS OF NATURAL NEWS, AS WELL AS SCORES
OF OTHERS IN THE U.S. AND AROUND THE WORLD, HAVE
LONG SINCE KNOWN OF THE HEALTH DANGERS OF JUNK
FOOD - FOODS THAT CAN MOST GENERALLY BE DESCRIBED
AS THOSE WHICH CONTAIN EMPTY CALORIES AND EXCESSIVE
AMOUNTS OF SUBSTANCES KNOWN TO CAUSE HARM TO THE
BODY.

IN THIS STUDIES THE ADDICTION ABOUT JUNKFOOD ARE
SPREADING ALL OVER MEDIA AND NEWS BECAUSE OF
CONTAIN IN JUNKFOODS.

MANY OF THE TELEVISION COMMERCIALS SEEN BY TEENAGERS ARE FOR JUNK
FOOD PRODUCTS. ACCORDING TO RESEARCH RELEASED THIS WEEK BY
THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF PREVENTIVE MEDICINE, THIS MAY BE A MAJOR
REASON OBESITY RATES CONTINUE TO RISE AMONG 12-17 YEAR-OLDS. THE
STUDIES EXAMINED BY RESEARCHERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOISCHICAGO AND UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN CONCLUDED THAT 26% OF TV ADS
SEEN BY TEENS WERE FOR FOOD PRODUCTS. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THESE
PRODUCTS CONTAIN HIGH AMOUNTS OF FAT, SUGAR AND SODIUM. IN THIS STUDIES THE POPULAR OF JUNKFOODS ARE SPREADING IN TV.

Of all the things high school students complain about, being sleep deprived and tired ranks first as most problematic. The issue isn’t that kids simply choose not to get enough sleep; it is that the majority genuinely cannot. Students are constantly being badgered by parents, doctors and school faculty to get at least eight hours of sleep, but with school starting as early as 7:20, that makes getting a decent amount of sleep an almost impossible task. Though there are numerous other reasons as to why students are lacking sleep, the start time of school is ultimately the main contributor and leads to many severely negative results. A policy causing high schools to start at 8:30 instead would greatly improve the number of better rested students.…

Pertussis, also known as the “whooping cough”, is a highly contagious respiratory illness that is passed from person to person through coughing and sneezing (Gregory, 2013). Early symptoms are similar to those from common colds, but when Pertussis progresses, it can turn to deep cough and potentially vomiting with little or no fever. In rare cases, pertussis can result in death, especially in infants (VDH, 2012). The purpose of this investigation is to help people understand the potential risk of having Pertussis, urge people take necessary actions to prevent the disease, and cite recommendations from CDC for health professionals to follow in their work.…
