Most Asian immigrants obtain their green card through employment or family
bonds. Asian immigrants are more educated when compared to other immigrant populations. Asians immigrants are also more likely to be in positions of management, and have higher incomes. Median household income for 2011 for Asian immigrants was $66,000 compared to the general public household income of $49,800 (pewsocialtrends.org).
Asian immigrants place a strong emphasis on family and are most likely to have two married parents because they place a high priority on a successful marriage. They also will intermarry with other racial groups, they maintain strong social ties and have a tendency to be Democratic. And most Asian immigrants settle in the Western, coastal part of the United States and New York.
Nearly half of the Asian immigrant population have settled between California (32%), New York (10%) and 7 percent in Texas. The Asian immigrants in California mostly settle in the LA, Santa Clara, and Orange counties, and in New York the majority settle in the Queens area. These four counties are home to approximately 21 percent of the Asian immigrants in the United States.
