experience within a foreign society. I want the opportunity to be an individual who is able to proactively represent the American image and interact with populations of other nations in the process contributing to the global consciousness of societies.
Another reason why I want the opportunity to be a Peace Corps volunteer is to be able to help people better their lives, even if only in a small way. Throughout my life always wanted to ,but never expected to , do something great. Experience has revealed to me the value of small acts in order to eventually achieve great ones. I was lucky enough to receive many small acts to improve my life and am now able to stand in a position where I am capable of performing acts to the benefit others and I believe the Peace Corps is a program that will allow me to fulfill this desire.
I believe that I will be able to easily conquer the physical, emotional, and intellectual challenges of the program. I do not foresee any physical problems arising from physical challenges; whether environmental or physical exertion. My experience in other countries, has given me an understanding of being outside of my comfort zone within a different culture. I have also always been a very independent person. I comfortable making my own decisions and know how to deal effectively handle conflict and change with a keen ability to approach intellectual challenges from multiple angles; with and without the aid of others. I actually prefer a higher amount of independence and responsibility. This way I know the full weight of the risks and consequences are dependent upon my own actions and this helps steer me when my judgement may be clouded.
