Reasons Why Gmos Should Be Banned

How many times have you eaten something without reading the ingredients label? In 1982, Genetically Modified Organisms were approved for human use1 and eventually mass produced to the public as FLAVR SAVR Tomato in the late 1990s.2 Many may think that GMOs will end world hunger, but it is killing us rather than saving us. If food companies continue to advertise GMOs as the savior of America’s hunger problems, the country is in for a surprise. Any food product being sold to the general public should be removed and banned because GMOs contribute to the rise of illness, contaminate the plants in our organic farms, and humans were not made to play god. Because there are no visible differences between a genetically modified plant and the base plant the GMO was based off, we cannot tell which one is organic, and which one is not. The only way anybody can tell if it is organic or not is by examining it in a laboratory. This is extremely dangerous because now everything we eat could have traces of the harmful genetically modified life in our diet. Every day, people used to eat things that were actually meant to eat. Now many put things into their bodies that are made to sell and make money. GMOs were not created to solve the world hunger situations, they were made to be easily created and to sell easily without putting a nasty taste in consumer’s mouth. They were not made to create a better diet for humanity or to help the environment. Genetically modified organisms were created to make more money. GMO activists may complain that the more food that is made in the laboratory, the more food for the poor and hungry. But if this the case, why not ask them how many people are going hungry a day? About 795 million according to the World Food Programme. Why haven’t GMOs help this number decrease? Because they were made to make money, not to save
Just because they aren’t experimenting on animals (yet), doesn’t mean it’s any different from it. The side effects and the damage on humanity have not been tested yet and when somebody meddles with DNA, anything can happen. Because the food industry does not give any information to which food companies are selling GMO infested food, we do not know what goes into our body, something that was made on the farm, or something that’s made in a laboratory. Genetically modified organisms are a menace to humanity and should be put out of business because they are linked to many illnesses, contaminate our organic produce, and humans weren’t put on this planet play God. If we as a species don’t do something about this situation, humanity might just destroy itself if it goes too far. Everybody should write the letter to the FDA demanding that every food company that handles GMOs in their food, to put a label that states it contains
