I have been so blessed to stay home and raise my two children Kynnedy and Hayes for the last four years. But the pages are turning over onto a new chapter of my life. I have always been infatuated with the land agriculture and everything that goes with it. So I'm proud to announce I am officially a Realtor/Agent with Reata Ranch Realty and will be working out of our office here in Mason, Texas a town I have to truly grown to love and admire! The people here are genuine and the ground is solid. Thank you to everyone that has supported and inspired me to take on this next endeavor!

When reading the essay "The Deer of Providencia" I found myself wondering who I felt more sympathy for. The deer or the burned victim? The objective and subjective detailed writing used by the author helped me really put myself in that moment. First, with the setting over the river bank near the village watching the deer suffer and struggle to escape from the rope that had captured it. I was able to feel pain as though I was there myself witnessing it. The whole beginning of Annie Dillard's essay had me cringing just picturing the animal suffering. Although, I didn't…

Hurtado says in his book intimate Frontiers that “each newcomer transformed California the exotic into California the familiar, a long established pattern that yet continues” (133). I somewhat agree with Hurtado’s statement that everyone who migrated to California for whatever reason tried to convert California into a place that looks familiar, each and every person left their mark on California, and this is why California today is a blend of different cultures and different races. Even today we see a lot of immigrants try to fit in, in order to fit in they try to change things, make their temples, churches, mosques, they make their own community centers, they do this so that they don’t feel too alienated, they try to turn it into something familiar. This is what people back then did; they tried to turn the exotic into familiar. It is normal that people who migrate to other places they try to turn it into something familiar, something that doesn’t look or feel too different from what they are used to of, they try to make changes according to their needs, their beliefs and their traditions; that are what happened back then, people tried to introduce and impose their religious and social ideas. There were very few women in California so people brought women from their own races into California to establish families here; the exotic Indian women were replaced by familiar women.…

“From the fact that the Indians are barbarians it does not necessarily follow that they are incapable…” (de Las Casas 3). In For the Record, it starts off right away in this section of how the Europeans while not sure of what to make of the Indians they knew that these were not the savages as some had described. De Las Casas goes on to describe of a people that were both loyal and committed to the community and to their fellow man. De Las Casas main adversary, Gines Sepulveda, failed to see the parallel in the fate of the Spaniards at the hands of the Romans and Caesar Augustus. “Now see how he called the Spanish people barbaric and wild” (de Las Casas 3) demonstrates the same philosophy of the thoughts of Europeans as they encountered the Indians. Shall those that are fearful for the loss of all they have worked for not fight back and retain what is rightfully theirs. The Indians, especially the Aztecs had built cities, established political and economic organizations and created richly diverse civilizations. In The Jesuit Relations they recount the gratitude shown to the hospital nuns “The Savages who leave the hospital, and who come to see us again at St. Joseph, or at the three Rivers,…

Donna is being cautious because, one she didn’t know where the noise she heard as coming from, second she took a tentative step backwards so there must be something in her way or at least she hears something coming her way. Then she thinks “ it didn’t growl before” so what i figured, the directionless noise she heard from earlier was Cujo”s growling. Cujo came out of Joe Camber’s garage.( Donna stared at him, feeling her breath coming to a painless and yet complete stop in her throat. It was the same dog. It was Cujo.) Donna was realised the dog she saw was Cujo but a different form of Cujo a more demon like version of Cujo Judging by her acts from before this scene ever actually…

Ranchers of America have been misunderstood far too long, which are often seen as unprincipled. A group that is perceived as people that abide by their own rules, and seen as people that harm the environment. Not only are ranchers seen as people that overwater their land or crops; but viewed by the public as men and women that chemically harm their crops with pesticide. There are many misconceptions and stereotypes that people in today's society are labeled with, which are most often confused. Misconceptions happen to be based off false thoughts and opinions, lacking evidence of an accusation. On the other hand stereotypes are based off some proven facts, which lead to accusations to a specific person, thing, or group.…

Imagine being stripped away from everything you knew: your childhood friends; cousins you thought you'd always have with you, and places you called your second, third, or even fourth home. That is exactly what I went through when my family decided to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico. What's different about my experience was that it wasn't necessarily the move that flipped my world upside down but everything that happened in between. I was an awkward, shy, midget-like twelve-year-old when my family and I lost our home during the California money crisis. From that point on it was like a tumbling circus act. My parents ended up losing their jobs until finally my dad moved to New Mexico; leaving me and my family for almost a year. The last thing…

With any movie there is always a purpose and objective. The viewing process of the movie is to support literacy and to asses personal strengths and inspire personal growth. With the movie The Amistad the objective of the movie was to remind individuals of the progress that has been made since the slavery times of the past. It helps to remind people that there is much more change still to be made when it comes to situations that directly deal with the issue of race. Intentionally or not the movie helps set future individual and groups goals for what is yet to come in the context of prejudice acts.…
