Recalling a prior experience
Ever since I can remember I have always grown up around hunting, my dad and brothers were avid hunters and when fall rolled around our house lit up with excitement in preparation for their first outing whether it be pheasant hunting, bow hunting or rifle. It was only natural for me to enroll in hunter safety so I could get my youth tag, which is a tag that you are almost guaranteed to get and it allows you to go out to Western North Dakota to shoot a mule deer. Several weeks after my hunter safety course, I had the opportunity to apply for my youth tag and sure enough I received my youth tag. So off to Western North Dakota we went with two of our family friends, Sheldon and Noah. Noah was my age, and also one of my childhood best friends. It was as well his first time going out hunting for mule deer! I’m fortunate enough to have my two brothers, Alex and Zach and additionally my dad to mentor me through this first time hunting trip. They’ve been hunting all their life and know a thing or two. When we arrived in the badlands, we all had to unpack and set up our campsite. When I say set up campsite I mean set up tents and get a fire going, this was my first time hunting as well as camping too, one could definitely say that I was a little lost on what to do.
The next day my dad woke me up at the break of dawn, I put on all my brand new gear, grabbed my gun and we were off walking. I’m not just talking about walking on the sidewalk, I’m talking about up and down mountains and trying to find the perfect spot to sit and wait for that prize buck to come out. Another thing that I didn’t know about hunting is, it’s all about a waiting game, and my patience is close to none. About an hour later of walking and hiking, we finally found that ideal spot, right on the edge of a mountain were you could see for miles and I was convinced I was going
