Recycling
Along with the development of society, recycling has an essential role in any society and any country. Recycling is defined as “the process of recovering and reusing waste products—from household use, manufacturing, agriculture, and business—and thereby reducing their burden on the environment” in thefreedictionary.com. Similarly, recycling is a process which can help people to redo the used items.
Recycling has a big significance in people’s lives, in society, and in the development of people because people cannot live along with many trash. “Although recycling may seem like a modern concept introduced with the environmental movement of the 1970s, it's actually been around for thousands of years. Prior to the industrial age, you couldn't make goods quickly and cheaply, so virtually everyone practiced recycling in some form” (Grabianowski). Thus, recycling is a good approach not only for people’s lives but also for the industry and environment in worldwide.
Do you know how many tons of rubbish are discharged to environment every day around the world? We do not know about it, but it cannot countable. Normally, there are many types of waste like household waste, garbage from residential or commercial areas, construction waste, industrial and agricultural waste. The rubbish can have strong impact to environment, people’s lives and their earth, and it is a reason why recycling appears in this planet.
Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide further information on recycling in terms of the definition of recycling, environment and natural resources, the methods of recycling, the advantages and disadvantages of recycling, and the obstacles of recycling.
Nowadays, environment is the most important issue for everything in the world, so people must protect it. Besides that, rubbish is toxic, corrosive, irritant, burnable, explode, and it potentially damages human health, animals and the environment. Next, rubbish is one of the risks which directly impact to environment, and the danger of rubbish is endless, people will never know how it can affect them. Moreover, rubbish is the source of all diseases in the world.
Garbage is very harmful to our environment. It poses dangerous risks to our land water, and air. Landfills overfilling with garbage destroy profitable land, and take many years to regain the nutrients and the land destroyed. Sewage water poured into oceans poison fish and other marine wildlife. Emissions that come out of cars limit the amount of air and oxygen we have to breathe. As you can see, garbage is harmful to our environment (A Lin). Rubbish can be classified into so many types as solid, liquid, semi-solid, gas. Thus, pollution is a sequel of problems about rubbish, and there are many types of pollution as water pollution, air pollution, thermal pollution, land pollution, and so on. Furthermore, pollution is the potential environment for the growing of the harmful bacteria, and it can spread easily in the air and water. According to statistics, more than 5,000 people die per year because of drinking dirty water, and over 1 billion people do not have the opportunity to use the clean water while the many industrial organizations are discharging the rubbish to clean rivers. The Mississippi River discharges about 1.5 million tons of nitrogen pollution in the sea each year. There are 46 % of the lakes in America are very dirty for fish and for people’s activities. 5% is the American population in the world, and 30% rubbish of the world belong to US (“11 Facts About Pollution”). “Recycling and composting prevented 85 million tons of material away from being disposed of in 2010, up from 18 million tons in 1980” (“11 Facts About Pollution”). Therefore, recycling is the most important process to slow down and avoid the pollution. Recycling is a remedy to rescue the world, and people must have aware to recycle the used item for environment’s protection. Moreover, rubbish also has the good side, and recycling activities can bring back to people billions USD.
Environment is a space where it can contain everything in it, and all of the components interact with each other. People, water, land, trees, rubbish, and so forth are the factor to make up the environment. Therefore, the environment does not belong to anyone, but people also do not know how the environment is damaged by them. If people love the environment, it will treat them better. People can be victims of environmental destruction, and there are many people die per year cause pollution and climate change. This year, there are many people lose their live cause climate became colder in which it does not happen before.
Global warming is not only a threat to our future health, it already contributes to more than 150,000 deaths and 5 million illnesses annually, according to a team of health and climate scientists at the World Health Organization and the University of Wisconsin at Madison—and those numbers could double by 2030 (West).
People damaged the environment, and they got what they did in return. It is time for everyone to recognize consequences and causes of the trouble. Each person must be aware of environmental protection as well as saving their own lives and others. They must look at their mistakes and start to correct it. “Help protect our environment by making these everyday changes at home, at work and in the world around you” (50 Ways to Save the Environment). Everyone can start with a small and simple thing in their lives, and they need to change their habitual. Consequences, people can make their lives better, and they help the environment become more beautiful.
Natural resources are a part of environment, add a connector people can classify it to many things, and they use it for their benefits. Humans are the most intelligent animal in the world, they can use natural resources to serve them, and they can use it in the best ways. In contrast, people cannot protect it, and they do not make it to become sustainable. In fact, people need entire natural resources to make their living standard better, but they destroyed a lot of natural resources like water, oil, land, air, trees so on. Moreover, People have caused the extinction of some animals on earth, and they have changed the ecology of animals in the forest. They exploit timber for paper, they use about 2.5 liters of water to produce 1 liter of carbonated beverage. In addition, they produce many decomposed things in the natural environment as the plastic bag which can be decomposed in 1000 years; hence, they must spend billion to recycle it.
One day, all of natural resources can be finished, and people do not live in the earth where there are no tree, no oil, no other animals, no wate. For future, people should find the solution to save the resources. They must think about the sustainable development on everything which they can use again and again. For example: Singaporean recycles the sea water with dirty or used water to clean water.
According to 50 Ways to Save the Environment, the first important way to improve the environment and natural resources is recycling everything. On the other hand, the writer wants to emphasize the benefits of recycling. In fact, although there are many recommends to ask people stop using natural resources, and the government of some country tighten regulations to save it, the trees are still destroyed, the water is still dirtied, and many resources are still depleted day by day.
Within the recycling definition above, people identified and recognized how environment and recycling are an essential significance for their future. The recycling can help people to keep energy and the natural resources which can easily to finish, thus, people need to pass it for next generation. People cannot only think for themselves but also for their generation because people want to reign this earth as long as they can. The next generation can be inherited the good things, as they can use natural resources in the better methods.
According to recent surveys by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 32 percent of municipal solid waste has been recycled by American households. That translates into over 79 tons trash that didn’t need to be incinerated or dumped in a landfill. That’s certainly a positive step toward saving the environment (LaMeaux).
In recycling, everyone can start the recycling process in small activity in their lives every day. Do not ignore small thing because it can impact from a small thing to a big thing. Furthermore, changing habitual is also a good way to redo the used items as the best methods. There are 10 easy ways to help the recycling process.
1. Buy recycled paper and print on both sides
2. Recycle your outdated technology
3. Make recycling bins readily available
4. Recycle your empty ink and toner cartridges
5. Buy remanufactured ink and toner cartridges
6. Recycle old newspapers laying around the office
7. Look for the recycled option in all the products you buy
8. Buy rechargeable batteries
9. Purchase rewritable CDs and DVDs so that you can reuse them from project to project.
10. Reuse your morning coffee cup (“Tips: top ten ways to recycle”).
As far as I know, recycling may help the industry to not waste much money, plus, there are many barriers to be controlled the natural resources by the government. Therefore, many companies and corporations must apply the recycling process, and that is the way to suggest the customer to use their products. Within the development of society, people own a lot of knowledge which are shown about their level, their conscious. Everyone wants to become better in the way they live, so the recycling products are the new trends to engage with people who have good awareness.
As you become aware of the benefits of reduction to save natural resources, you won’t be able to escape the amount easiest and most cost effective method of reduction:driving less. When you. reduce the of miles you drive, you are reducing the need for gas production and refining. The result is savings in your pocket, as well as natural resources. You can take it a step further by buying a hybrid or more fuel-efficient car (LaMeaux).
Everyone knew how recycling is very important, but nothing is perfect, and it does not except the recycling. Everything must have two opposite side of the problem, so the recycling also has negative face. There are not only many of advantages but also plenty of disadvantages and everyone has to analyze and identify problems clearly. “Recycling saves energy and water, lowers pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, improves air and water quality, preserves landfill space and conserves natural resources” (Mckay). Then, people can know how to use it and let it drive properly because the process of recycling must be spent a lot of money. If they cannot run it or run it in the wrong way, they will spend more money and energy. “Surprisingly, recycling process may not always be beneficial and has shocking effects, unknown to most of us” (“Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling”).
Firstly, in obviously, recycling has many benefits because it is a process to redo the used products to the new products. Thus, that process helps environment to save natural resource, it helps people to reduce the pollution in water, air, land and so on. In addition, recycling is a scale about the knowledge, civilized, and the level of a country, so it has much significance to a country and people.
1. Protects Environment: The foremost benefit or recycling is that it helps in protecting the environment in the most balanced manner
2. Reduces Energy Consumption: Recycling helps to minimize energy consumption, which is crucial for massive production, such mining or refining. This also makes the production process very cost-effective and beneficial for manufacturers.
3. Reduces Pollution: Industrial waste today is the main source of all types of pollution. Recycling of industrial products such as cans, chemical, plastics helps to cut down pollution levels considerably, as these materials are re-used, instead of throwing them away irresponsibly.
4. Reduces Global Warming: Recycling helps to alleviate global warming and its ill effects and so on. Recycling produces less greenhouse gases as industries burn fewer fossil fuels for eco-friendly products.
5. Judicial and Sustainable use of Resources: Recycling promotes judicial and sustainable use of resources. Recycling is encouraged at all levels, starting from school to corporate offices and at international levels. This means we can preserve all precious resources for our future generation, without any compromise in the present.
6. Conserves Natural Resources: Recycling helps in conserving important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future. Conserving natural resources such as wood, water and minerals ensures its optimum use.
7. Reduces Amount of Waste to Landfills: Recycling helps in reducing water and land pollution as landfills are a major source in contributing to destruction of natural environment.
8. Create Green Jobs: Recycling is good for the environment and apart from that it also creates green jobs (“Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling”).
Secondly, recycling contributes a great significance to civilization of mankind, but the disadvantages of recycling always exist. Normally, how people recycle the used item, they need to construct a chain to run a recycling process, and they need energy to do that. Then, the recycling process may create more pollution to environment. Besides that, how people ensure about quality of recycling products, and how they can save energy and cost to run that process. All of them are opposite of recycling. People need a new remedy for recycling in future because they cannot recycle the used item to reduce pollution, and to create more pollution for recycling. Since that, the ways to redo the used item are impossible.
1. Not always Cost Effective: Sometimes, there may be a need to establish separate factories to process reusable products. This may create more pollution in terms of cleaning, storage and transportation.
2. Recycled Products May not Last for Long: Such items are mostly made of trashed waste, picked up from heaps other waste products which are of fragile or overly used. For this reason, recycled products are cheap and last for a shorter period.
3. Unsafe and Unhygienic Recycling Sites: Places where all sorts of waste is dumped are conducive for debris formation and spread of disease and other dangers caused by harmful chemicals and waste. This not only causes widespread pollution but is harmful for dedicated people who recycle such products. Such waste if mixed with water, leads to leachate formation and leads to toxication of water bodies including drinking water.
4. Not widespread on Large Scale: Recycling often occurs at a small scale- homes or schools and has failed to be useful at a large level such as at industries or holistically at a global stage. Saving paper at schools cannot be compared to oil spills or massive tree felling at at industrial level.
5. High Initial Cost: This huge cost can come up as a part of acquiring different utility vehicles, upgrading the processing facility, educating residents by organizing seminars and other programs, disposing of existing waste and chemicals etc (“Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling”).
On the other hand, people need to avoid the disadvantages above, and they need to research more to find the best solution to save the environment. They must focus more environment than the reduction of produce cost. Moreover, people must understand the recycling process deeply; so, people create more efficiency for recycling process.
Although the U.S. is the leading country in the recycling, it also faces many problems. Large quantities of rubbish, the U.S. cannot meet positioning needs for the environment. So, the amount of rubbish that people use every day is enormous. Though people know the benefits of recycling and they like to support that process, the consciousness’s people are not high. According to statistics, the amount of rubbish being recycled in the U.S. only about 34 %, and the remaining 64 % do not know where it settles into. Many companies or corporations own their recycling process, but the rubbish that is discharge to environment is still much (Scott).
1.Inconvenience: If your local waste management company doesn’t pick up recyclables at the curb, it can be very inconvenient to recycle. Loading a car up with garbage and driving it to a local recycling center is not anyone’s idea of a good time on a Saturday morning. And, while many more municipalities are implementing curbside recycling, until it’s available to every home and office, many won’t make the extra effort to recycle.
2.Not Knowing What Recyclable Is: Because each waste management company determines what recyclables they’re willing to pick up, it’s difficult for an average consumer to decipher what is recyclable. In addition, there is no standard labeling system or rule of thumb for what can be recycled. Some companies only pick up paper, while others include plastics and aluminum – but only numbers 1 & 5 for plastic, no wait make that numbers 3 and 4 but no bags. Confusion is inevitable, due to this lack of consistent standards.
3.Lack of Confidence: Some people (falsely) believe that all recyclables end up in the trash. In reality, recycling diverts a significant amount of material from the landfill. In fact, every year Pratt Industries diverts 1.8 million tons of waste paper, other recyclable materials and waste-to-clean energy materials from the landfill (Scott).
To be effective in the recycling process need more resources, manpower and take more time. The best way to be able to promote to the recycling process, the government should enforce laws tightened, but applies strict policies and synchronization. Furthermore, the educations for the next generation are not only theoretical but also practical and applicable. “Another way to help the planet is to simply cut down on the amount of non-recyclable materials you throw out ("Why is recycling so important?"). Moreover, there are some solutions to deal with that problem.
Place your recycling container in a visible and accessible area. Location will make a big difference in the amount of recyclables you collect. Educate everyone within your organization on the benefits of recycling. Track the volume of recyclables you are collecting as compared to the reduction in waste. Report on the success of recycling efforts. Ensure that all recycling receptacles and bins are labeled clearly (Scott).
In conclusion, in this century, people have created a lot of rubbish, and it impacts on the development of human beings. In this essay points out many problems around recycling, environmental pollution, depleted natural resources. Moreover, the essay analyzes meaning, purpose, advantages and disadvantages of recycling. Although recycling is a good process in theory, it has not strong to meet the environmental protection goals.
According to my opinions, the government that makes a lot of important decisions affecting people and the environment. Therefore, the government must have good policies to manage rubbish, recycling and environmental protection. In this context, each person must have a good aware of protecting the environment as well as recycling rather than spending billions of dollars on the recycling, so why not people use items or product can use it again and again?
In the coming years, the next generation inherits that problems from the previous generation, but they can do better because they own multiple foundation and more knowledge than previous generation. Society has been going up alongside the development of people, so there will be more recycling solutions and methods in the near and distant future. People will be familiar with living besides recycling, and it will become an indispensable part of human society rather than living with rubbish.

This is an online article source through a credible agency, the United States Environmental Protection Agency. It very briefly outlines how recycling occurs and the benefits of recycling, including reducing landfills. The purpose of this article was to inform anyone who is new to this field of study and would like to know the general idea. The process is very vaguely outlined and does not go too far in depth as to be understood by nearly any reader. The main ideas are the benefits and the three stages of recycling. The three stages are represented by the triangular arrows and are Collection and Processing, Manufacturing, and Purchasing New Products Made from Recycled Materials. Collection and Processing consists of attaining the material in a variety of ways, including curbside, drop off, and collection agencies and then processing and sorting the materials that can be used for manufacturing. Manufacturing consists of using this material to make new products such as paper towels and aluminum can, with more products emerging annually. The last step that closes…

Recycling and waste prevention are two very important ways to help address the issues of the environment concerning climate change. Recycling is a very beneficial factor that more individuals need to exercise in order to improve the environment’s pollution, reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, and save energy and natural resources that are used to produce products from virgin materials rather than from recycled materials, which uses less energy and produces less harmful pollution. Recycling has many benefits that helps improve the earth’s conditions. Waste prevention and recycling are real ways to address these problems and begin to make a change. Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into valuable resources, reducing the amount of natural resources needed to produce these same products. Collecting your used bottles, cans, and newspapers and taking them to a recycling bin or collection facility is just the first step, in a series of steps that generates a host of financial, environmental, and social returns. These benefits accrue locally as well as globally. Recycling protects and expands United States manufacturing jobs and increases United States competitiveness by creating more recycling jobs and facilities within the United States and producing more of our own products with recycled materials and being less dependent on outside countries and companies for these products. Recycling prevents pollution caused by the manufacturing of products from virgin materials.…

Recycling has been a well known idea for so many years, but now we need it more than ever. Now in the world there are so many problems with the environment like Global Warming, toxic waste, and not to mention not recycling is very costly but recycling reduces the landfill space, helps conserves natural resources, and reduces the production of greenhouse gases . When you recycle you also help save animals so the rims of a six pack of soda doesn’t end up blocking a fish's gills or a plastic bag getting eaten by a turtle and having it choke on the bag. Recycling can also be a group effort where you get a group of people from your community, school, church, job, or just you and your friends so not only your saving the environment but your having fun with people you know while doing it.…
