Red Balloon Corrupt
We can see that Miss Havisham cannot talk and communicate properly she can only communicate properly in her dreams only there can she be “fluent” but only in kissing which shows she only “talks” love. The enjambment of “love’s… hate” shows how easily love can change into hatred. The red balloon bursting shows her heart break. Red has traditionally been associated with courage and love in Western culture, but in China, red is the colour of happiness and good fortune. The RED balloon bursting shows her loving dieing and her good fortune dieing. The balloon can also symbolise her love leavening her flying away like a balloon fly’s away to the sky. Carol Ann Duffy uses the word “bang” as personification to make us visualise all he love dieing away

Joy Harjo uses many forms of figurative language in her poem “Perhaps The World Ends Here”. Two form of figurative language that she uses are metaphor and personification. The first is her use of metaphor, for example “This table has been a house in the rain, an umbrella in the sun, shadow of terror” (8-9). This shows how life takes on the qualities of a dining experience. Outlandish dishes to test, most loved recipes to test over and over. Possibly differed seasonings and an assortment of side dishes. Secondly she uses personification in her poem. She states “Our dreams drink coffee with us as they put their arms around our children. They laugh with us at our falling-down selves and as we put ourselves back together once again at the table.”…

Cellular respiration is a process that releases chemical energy from glucose and other carbon-based molecules to produce ATP when oxygen is present. The formula for cellular respiration is C6H12O6+ 6O2= 6CO2= 6H2O. The process of respiration contains three main parts, glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and the Electron Transport Chain. The process of glycolysis takes place in the cytoplasm and is considered an anaerobic process which splits glucose into two three-carbon molecules and makes two molecules of ATP. The Krebs cycle takes place in the interior space of the mitochondria and gives off carbon dioxide as a waste product when sugars are broken down. The Electron Transport Chain takes place in the…

The use of imagery appeals to the reader’s senses, which was shown through the lack of noise. “'What's the matter, Harry?' 'Sshhh!' he whispered. 'Sshhh! For God's sake don't make a noise. Take your shoes off before you come nearer, Please do as I say, Timber,'” (1). Dahl explained how quiet the characters had to be in order for Harry to survive. He uses lifelike imagery to show the reader how Harry feels throughout this situation, creating suspense for the reader. The following use of imagery is to convey the mood throughout the story. “We pulled the sheet back faster then, and when we had uncovered his legs and feet we let the sheet drop over the end of the bed on to the floor.'Don't move,' Ganderbai said, 'don't move, Mr Pope,'” (10). Dahl uses detailed information to create a very stressful and scary mood thus creating suspense. Finally, his use of imagery helps make the story come alive to the reader. “He was lying there very still and tense as though he was holding on to himself hard because of sharp pain," (2). Towards the beginning of the story, Dahl explains how Harry felt through this entire incident which helps create a visual representation for the reader. This can be seen as time being an obstacle for the two as it is a common situation that happens to couples,"the right love at the wrong time". Throughout the film it is also depicted that the woman brings life to the man, as she is able to bring him to life, birds to life and ants to life, literally and metaphorically the woman and or her love is able to bring the man to life. The two go through more obstacles that keep them from being together, but the final one is where the man thinks he has finally reached his beloved. The man is holding a heart that turns into the shape of the woman but the heart then continues changing into her dress, the man is saddened. The man was not able to reach his love and returns to his statue state, but there is a new hole where his heart is supposed to be. The camera zooms in on his hole and the bell, which is actually the woman is seen filling up the hole found in the man's heart. The film then ends with that scene, which can be interpreted as him holding her dear to his heart. Everyone has gone through a loss of a loved one but my mother had always told me that they aren't really gone, they will be with us at all times in our…

It can be said that love, in all aspects, has a broad yet distinct ability to conquer the lives of those who are fortunate enough to encounter such fulfillment. There are individuals who will spend an entire lifetime searching for the correct and adequate meaning to a single-syllable word with nothing more than four simplistic letters to comprise its body. Affection, fondness, adoration, devotion and ardor are all emotions that symbolize and thrive in the presence of love. William Shakespeare’s, “Let me not to the marriage of true minds,” uses symbolism to depict his own portrayal of love by using a range of examples such as death, the constellations, vicious weather, lost vessels at sea, and time, by doing this, he gives the term love an incalculable characterization.…

Jabberwocky” is famously known for its creativity and word play which are called nonsense words. But it also shows a handful of imagery through its words in the poem. Sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing are the basics of what makes an image. For example , “The Jabberwocky, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling tulgey wood, and burbled as it came !” (13-16). Based on the writing Lewis Carroll gave us. It represents a vivid sense for the readers. The flame in the jabberwocky eyes expresses anger, and the following gives us an image on the fast and elusive creature coming at you through the woods. “O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!” (23-24). Although the diction is relatively colloquial, there are some prominent words, which are utilized to exhibit the woman's emotions. The first two lines of the poem are bursting with powerful lexis, "It is not the moon, I tell you. / It is these flowers..." (1-2). The woman hates men, and uses influential words to aid in her belief. The word moon suggests power. The subject uses moon to indicate that men have power over women. This is the initiation of her argument, that men control woman, and that is the cause of her hatred. The word flower implies innocence, specifically, the desire for love and purity. The flower is the target for all women, including her, however, the probability of obtaining said goal, is dubious. The persona furthers her contention against men when she declares that, "She hates sex" (5). Sex contains a binary meaning. Sex can either mean that she hates men, which has already been established, or sex may mean intercourse. It is proven later in the poem, that the hatred of sex includes both aspects. In discussing the "paralyzing body," it is in reference to a man's body against her body. The thought of a male paralyzing her body, disgusts her. The poem concludes by mutating the tone of from defensive and firm to dreamy with a tinge of hope. When the woman says, "How can I be content / when there is still / that odor in the world?" (22-24), she is revealing the first sense of hope. Odor insinuates the desire for the flower. The odor is yearning for love, respect, and equality.…

This is illustrated within the first lines of 'Love Orange' which states, "somewhere between the repetition of Sunday School lessons and the broken doll which the lady sent me one Christmas I lost what it was to be happy" (p.11). The broken doll is symbolic of childhood hope being dashed away by the lack of understanding on the part of adults, as the little girl yearns strongly for a "plaster doll with blue eyes and limbs that moved." The child is crushed as she sees the mutilated doll with "the one China blue eye and the missing finger" and all hopes and dreams of a child are drained from her. She becomes the damaged doll which is depicted as a personification of death and fear, youthful symbolism that cannot be understood by the adults in the story. Plagued by death, both in dreams and awake, the girl must endure her distress alone for her grandmother "never understood about the doll" and the painful effect it had on her. This disappointment at finding that the doll she so longed for was deformed, is only compensated for by the love-orange which she constantly 'conjures' for protection in a world populated by…
