Critical Appraisal
On the whole, the Red Box was designed to be such a product which stands right between Purple Player and Yellow Console on every single offering characteristic, in order to fulfill the needs of those consumers who seek better performance and gaming experience than Yellow Console provides but cheaper price than Purple Player offers. More specifically, the desired Red Box should be cheaper than the Purple Player but slightly more expensive than the Yellow Console because of the more sophisticated performance and better gaming experience. The reason why targeting Yellow Console as the major competitor was that it had almost the largest market share in the segments of younger and lower income groups which were profitable and potentially acquirable. The consumer preference of Red Box was evenly distributed to each age group. We were expecting to gain more market share and customer preference in the segments of 6-21 and 22-35 by competing with Yellow Console while keeping others constant. We aimed to skew the focus to younger generations since it was costly and time-consuming to attract more consumers in 36 plus group.
Peer Group Discussion

As specified in the annual review of consumer psychology, promotional messages carry the potential to grow the attraction of a company multiplying its presence in a market. When a researcher thinks about what type of messages they want to create, they must consider the attitudes and emotions of the segment. This is important with teenagers as the attitudes by which they approach a market determine the possibility for purchase or usage of the service. Take for example Microsoft with the creation of the Xbox. When the game console was created they were looking to target a broad market competing with Sony who had already commanded an overwhelming lead above all other gaming markets. By analyzing the attitudes of the already enthuse buyers Microsoft took advantage of the buying motives to relay the message of a better more improved system that demanded the lead over all others. As Microsoft looks to keep reminding this market or segment that they are still playing hard and rough, new versions of the console are…

The product or the item for consumption that I have selected is the Nintendo Wii Game System. This system ruined the industry’s rank, when they put on the loose of this novel perception of effectively taking part in the video games. I would like to say that the Nintendo Wii is at the market development stage or level. Although the product is just a pair of years old presently, the attention level carries on to cultivate as the Nintendo organization is constantly producing original augmentation to move out by the side of the Wii game system. More over, other video game varieties currently are opening to generate the similar video game technology providing the Nintendo Wii opposition that untill that time it did not have it. This opposition has merely pact with the Nintendo generating more attentive games, trimmings, and improvements building up their product yet more enjoyable or pleasurable.…

The game console industry is unpredictable, as the market leader changes as frequently as new games being released. Currently, the most prominent console manufacturers in the industry are Sony (PlayStation), Microsoft (Xbox), and Nintendo (Wii). While Sony and Microsoft focus on powerful machines and games targeted at older teens and young adults, Nintendo’s family friendly, less graphically polished consoles target an entirely different market, and is not applicable to the Sony/Microsoft battle.…

Threat of New Entrants: In 2008, the threat of new entrants was not very high. Sony’s Playstation, Microsoft’s Xbox, and Nintendo’s gaming systems were very well established names in the industry. The brand identities of these products were so strong that it would be very difficult for a new player to enter the game at this point in time. Many years prior to 2008 this was not the case. Many new companies tried to enter the market, some, like Microsoft, succeeded, others, like Sega, did not fare as well. In 2008, the Threat of new entrants, is not a strong force in this industry. The cost required to develop and manufacture a product that could be a decent a competitor in this market is too great for a non-established company in this industry to be able to compete. The technology that is needed to be successful at this point is too advanced for new competitors to achieve. Although at times the threat of new entrants might have been a concern for this industry, in 2008, the three current competitors had much to strong a hold on the industry.…

MACROECONOMIC FACTORS INFLUENCING THE VIDEO GAME CONSOLE MARKET Demographic Factors: Age is the main demographic factor affecting the market for video game consoles although common misconceptions are that the market is mainly comprised of teenagers. Recent Studies shows that the largest market sector of video game console purchases are teenagers or young adults. ESA demographic data shows that America¶s average game player¶s age is 34 and the average age of game purchasers is 40 (see article x) Generational factors play a big role in the market sector of gamers who purchase more than one game console, buy the latest version and buy games into adulthood. In 2010 26% of gamers were over 50. There is a definite generational factor as many of the consumers were in their teens when the mass video gaming culture began and now are in their 40s or 50s and have retained their gamer status, therefore are also ready to adopt new products. The traction trebuchet is believed to be an ancient war engine which was invented in China in 300BC. It is thought that the trebuchet may have developed from the stave sling. In the traction trebuchet a large troop of men pulled down on ropes to propel the missile. The trebuchet reached Europe during the Medieval era in 500 AD and was used extensively by the French and the troop of men were replaced with a large fixed, or pivoting, counterbalance weight. The Trebuchet (Trebuchet) was introduced in England in 1216 during the Siege of Dover - as were many other types of siege engine. Louis the Dauphin of France crossed the Channel with a large force and laid siege to Dover Castle making a violent and incessant attack on the walls. He used the trebuchet against the walls of Dover Castle. The constable of Dover castle was Hugh de Burgh - he refused to surrender.…
