I was only twelve when my great adventure took place. Keelan and Matthew Daniel, known to many as the definition of rednecks, or to me as trouble, were honestly my best and only friends in our quaint neighborhood. The occasional tag along was a petite blonde girl named Kinley who went to a different school than us three, leaving her living situation the only thing we all

Alex had always loved this type of weather, it was the very best thing about Queensland. It was a pressing heat, dry yet humid. It was a warmth you could feel in every area of your body. A pressure that only meant one thing, an incoming storm that would arrive late in the evening. It was the best time to be outside; the best time to swim, to play football, to sun bathe. Things Alex longed to be doing, things that she would be doing, that is if she was not incarcerated inside a saunaesque - filled to the brim with seventeen year old male body odour - classroom, reading an inarticulate book she wasn't even sure the author of the book would read.…

In 1913, women couldn’t vote, have a credit card in their own name, legally have an abortion, apply to a graduate school as a married woman, or attend ivy league schools such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth, and Colombia. Due to the past restrictions imposed on women, it seems the search to find oneself is ongoing. What first began as a fight against clear and visible restrictions such as voting, has now crossed over to the silent and subtle restrictions forced on women through gender roles. By using “‘Redneck Woman’ and the Gendered Poetics of Class Rebellion” as a lens, this paper will analyze how women are redefining the role of gender, defying the constraints of class systems, and why it is morally better to be poor, in order to show how women are bringing forth a new meaning behind the term femininity.…

In the direct, later on, indignant article “Endless Summer”, Rick Bragg reveals the transition from childhood to adulthood by using figurative language throughout the article. Bragg portrays that time last forever and summer is the same way. Summer feels so long to a child because they spend countless hours playing in the pool and staying out till dark. They wake up and repeat the same routine the following day. To Bragg, the transformation to an adult is very grim; because it means more responsibility. Jobs have priority and take up more time, leaving little to no free time to do the enjoyable things. Nevertheless, summertime as a kid is entertaining, but the memories will have to do because as adults, jobs take priorities in life.…

I can still remember the times when I was just a young boy. I grew up in the rural part of town on our family's ranch. Most knew where my family resided, as we set up our establishment and named it the Double G Ranch. Amongst my family, included a vast variety of animals. We had everything from racing horses to bulls and even a mean rooster that startled everyone on the farm except for my mother. Friends and close relatives would often visit to participate in trail rides, social gatherings, and other outdoor activities. My family's ranch became not only everyone else around us the favorite place to hang out, but also a place where I created memories. I can honestly say that my childhood consisted of numerous adventures that fulfilled my enjoyment.…

The word cowboy brings to mind images of the old west, mostly movies. Ten gallon hats, boots, spurs, horses, revolvers and of course cows. In todays society the term cowboy or cowgirl isn’t always a favorable one. It can mean ignorant, country, reckless, or just refer to boots and hats. Are Cowboys even still around? Not the “wanna be” hat on the weekend’s type of person, the genuine article. The answer may surprise you. In today’s modern world, cowboys aren’t just still around; they have developed into the subculture in which I belong. The cowboy subculture can be found all across the United States and Hawaii. Grade Upper Elementary (3) Time 45 minutes Objectives Students will learn the importance of writing clear and accurate procedures write a procedure for making a PBJ samdwih Materials 1 loaf bread 1 jar peanut butter 1 jar jelly paper plates Knife, spoon Standard clean-up equipment Find out if any students have allergies to peanuts before beginning. Introduction Review with students the steps of the scientific method as they have studied them. Focus on the importance of the experiment and the set of directions for how to do the experiment, called the procedure. One of the reasons i he procedure is important is because other scientists must be able to do the same experiment in the same way to see if they get the same results. Today they will be writing procedures for a very important, very difficult task. Procedure 1. The problem Assign students to working pairs. Explain to students that you (the instructor) have just arrived on this planet. You have discovered the greatest thing in the entire universe and want to take it back to your planet, but dont know how to make it, so you need their help. They will work in pairs to write the procedure, the set of directions, for making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Show them the materials that you have to work with - a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, and a knife. Give students 10 minutes to work on writing the procedure. 2. Making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich At the end of the time, have volunteers read the directions they have written, as you follow them to the letter. Be extremely literal, for example if they say, put the peanut butter on the bread as their first step, place the unopened jar of peanut butter on the unopened loaf of bread. If they say, open the peanut butter, struggle with pulling the cap off. Have students verbally change directions to make them more precise as you go along. Always give the person who gave you the directions the first crack at…
