The most important thing on a company’s mind is: what does the consumer want? The New Deal era is the era where this new urban consumer lifestyle is introduced. (HIST 222 lecture, 19 OCT 10) Everything was made to have the effect to “be easier on people”. This was the era when Henry Ford introduced the automobile, which is one of the most important things an American can own today. This is also the time when Hollywood movies came out, so every American was watching, hearing, and learning the same things. (HIST 222 lecture, 19 OCT 10) This, in my opinion, is the definition of American living today. During this time, overproduction started to creep up. The Americans that lived during this time do not really know what it is like to have a scarcity of many materials. There Americans always lived in an age of a thriving…

Like the earthquake ripples, which can be felt hundreds of miles away, events in our American history can have lasting effecting that springs to life yet again a new generation. What one Era or generation leaves behind the next must clean up and attempt to rebuild. An example of this would be the Progressive Era leading into the Great Depression. The Progressive Era wasn’t all bad; however some key events unfortunately lead to what we know today as, The Great Depression. As you read further, I will discuss the key turning points in the Progressive Era, as well as explain its impact on American’s current society. I will also, describe some of the legislation in (Roosevelt-Taft-Wilson) progressive era years that have influenced the conduct of business to this day, as well as explain the role that the Spanish-American War played in America’s development of an empire, and to conclude I will explain the way in which the boom and bust of the “Roaring Twenties” followed by the Great Depression affected the federal government’s involvement in the national economy.…

The statement claims that it is only large firms that benefit from economies of scale, but before we look into the accuracy of this statement, we must first define a large firm. This is difficult, but the most widely used measure of a firms' size is its number of employees. This of course causes its' own problems as industries differ as to how labor-intensive they are. However, for the purposes of this essay I would consider any firm that employs more than 20 people as a 'large' firm.…

I saw an ad on TV about primary school education and it had me wondering about how specific types of books impact children’s thoughts on the world around them. This is why I have chosen Childhood development as my general area of interest for my PIP. Specifically, I have decided to inquire into the impact of fairytales on the intellectual development of children. Intellectual development refers to the growth of children in a way that their brain becomes more and more capable of analysing understanding and evaluating concepts to make sense out of the world around them. A fairytale refers to a children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands. Therefore, I will explore the way that stories, such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, impact the development of a child’s thoughts on the world around them, targeting both male & female children. For instance, I am curious as to why some children feel that every old lady around them was “the wicked witch” after reading a specific fairytale.…

Most of my life I have lived in a country where economy was equivalent to crisis. I have had the opportunity to witness what is the situation with small business and what problems they face. In the recent years, especially after the economic crisis in 2007-2008, small companies have been striving to survive and remain on the market. Many people lost their jobs because consumption and thus businesses froze. That is why I want to work for a relatively large company that has developed in many markets and people have trust in it. I think that large corporations have many advantages and can give a wide variety of opportunities to every individual. Being even a small part of something that is internationally recognized is very inspirational for me. Big companies can be a source of new…
