Direction: Reflect upon the validity of Machiavelli’s statement that most people are selfish, fickle, and corrupt.
I’m totally in accord with Mechiavelli’statement that most people are selfish, fickle, and corrupt. Because if we use the United States of America as an example we will find out that most people are selfish and corrupt. But it’s not our fault for being selfish because the society that we are living in America today require our self to be selfish not selfish in a wrong way but in a good way. What I meant by it is that; someone is selfish when he/her concerned chiefly with one's own personal profit pleasure. In America some people use the kindness of others to make profit or money by suing him/her. To succeed in such a thing you must be a lion and a fox at the same time. Machiavelli has completely reason but sometimes it’s not our fault if we are selfish and corrupt even we know that corruption is not something good. But we can interpret it in so many ways. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement. Bribery is the improper use of gifts and favors in exchange for personal gain. This is also known as kickbacks or, in the Middle East, baksheesh it is most common form of corruption. Embezzlement involves someone with access to funds or assets illegally taking control of them. I think it’s not a bad thing being fickle because sometimes it is good to be fickle that might private you from a death or something even worst, the spy people or the government use the fickleness a lot. In conclusion it is a fact that most people are selfish, fickle, and corrupt but among those people I’m not there.
