In NURS 440 the importance of community nursing was stressed and the impact of nursing on the population beyond the acute care setting. NURS 489 has played a major influence in my current role as a nurse manager. This course focused on Benner and the novice to expert concept. This course helped me to look at my practice over the years and how to improve my skills as a leader. NURS 489 allowed me to explore ethical issues and the responsibility of nurses. “Practice experience matures nurses from the novice to expert stage, and also offers the opportunity for a deeper understanding and development of ethical principles” (Pope et al., 2016, p. 26). I am always open to learning.

There were different personalities and work ethics, but it all helped to support effective communication to complete a project on time.
