1. Read the assigned articles and summarize the key concepts presented by the authors. Where do the authors agree, and where do they disagree.

The “Trends and Transitions in Japanese and Korean Management Approaches” article was helpful to understand the role of culture, religion and relationships in Korea and Japan in terms of their impact to management systems. Impacts of culture on asian management practices, description of Japanese social characteristics, decision making and leadership styles and how they got effected by the culture are highly emphasized topics in the article. The author argues that, Japanese social characteristics have influenced the Japanese management systems which became so successful in post Second World War era and developed consensus decision-making, life-time employment, strong loyalty to employers and etc. The “Japanese Management and Employment” article by Miyiari Toshiyuki was about the key principles and features of organizational structure of Japanese management systems. The article was helpful to understand Japanese employment practices, advantages and disadvantages of lifetime employment system, forms of employment, payment systems, job security and similar aspects of Japanese management systems. The article about Samsung and China provides analytic thinking of Chinas intention to identify what makes Samsung tick in the same way that it sends its bureaucrats to learn effective government from Singapore.
