Reflection Of Adjunct Therapy
The second day at clinical site was a little bit easier compare to the first day because I was able to build on last clinical confidence. After the first therapy called adjunct therapy, I was able to talk to two client and I was glad to pick a good client for my patient care plan. I approached the client, her initial is ER, diagnosed of mood disorder. She was sitting on a chair and drowsy. I introduced myself (giving information) and I asked for permission if we can talk together and she agreed. I first of all assess her level of consciousness and her level of consciousness was into three. Then, I asked her if she could share with what brought her into hospital (broad opening). She had an argument with her husband and she left the room to the compound to rake leaves. As she was raking the leaves, her husband came to her gesturing, and she was furious and thrown the rake on the ground. According to her, “I throw the rake onto the ground and neighbors call the police on me”. She also said “I love my husband, I’m not gonna hit him with that”. …show more content…
She said “no, I’m not gonna kill my husband, I love him. But sometime when he made angry I will tell him that I’m goona kill you. But I didn’t mean that!” I also asked her “what have you learn during your stay in these few days in the hospital?”(Encouraging expression). She said “I learnt many thing, I understand that I shouldn’t be angry anymore”. I later ask her that how would she cope if such situation happens again (formulating a plan of action), she said “I will walk away, I will walk my dog or call my daughter or his brother to talk to him”. I then thank her for sharing her information with me. Then I left her because it was lunch

The thing I found most interesting was the clinician’s ability to keep the client on task and always bring him back when he lost focus. The other was how many different activities the clinician had planned for the fifty-minute session. She kept the client very busy as to not lose his focus, yet still managing to keep everything tied into the goals she had laid…

Hemmingway’s short story “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place” begins with an old man drinking brandy in a Spanish café late at night, into the early hours of the morning. A young waiter is upset, wishing that the old man would leave so that he and the older waiter could close the café and go home. However, the older waiter realizes that the old man must be lonely, especially since he had attempted to hang himself the week before. When the old man finally leaves the waiters close the café, with the younger waiter going home to his family and the older waiter wandering the streets to find his own clean, well-lit place.…

Have you ever had the feeling that you are being watched? It could be the guy across the room, your grandmother in heaven, or even Santa Claus all the way from the North Pole. The idea of surveillance can work to evoke feelings of guilt, fear, and security. We, as Americans, are fortunate enough to live in a country that encourages people of all cultures and ethnicities to thrive together. A country that places essentially no limitations on what we are allowed to say, write, or vote for. Of course, we do have laws and law enforcers that citizens are expected to abide by which gives our society order and efficiency. Without regulation pandemonium would ensue. However, the law enforcement officers can’t be everywhere at the same time, so what is it that keeps our society in check the majority of the time? In Michele Foucault’s chapter “Panoptiticism” from his book Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison, he elaborates on Jeremy Bentham’s idea of a panopticon, focusing on the role of discipline as an instrument of power. What makes the panopticon successful is the idea of an ever-constant surveillance, which the prisoners of the panopticon are always aware of. Panopticism describes this continuous alertness as a way for the governing agents to subconsciously establish control, since the prisoners will presumably always be on their “best behavior.” Foucault depicts the panopticon as a way of exercising power over a mass; this idea can also be taken from the works of John Berger, Susan Bordo, and Laura Kipnis.…

Furthermore, a patient’s evaluation of a clinician’s trustworthiness influences the patient’s willingness to disclose psychosocial or other barriers to treatment effectiveness, and his or her expectations of treatment efficacy and motivation to adhere to the treatment. I have grown professionally through the clinical and my ability to critically think is evolving every day. In addition, with experience and confidence, I have learned to critically think as I collect, analyze, and synthesize, evidence based patient information to provide positive patient outcomes. 2. When I introduced myself to patient A for the first time she seemed very distressed. She was lying in bed on her side. She had a notepad and pen in bed beside her. She was able to write down that she felt very uncomfortable in the bed. I quickly learnt that she was also able to give a ‘thumbs up’ gesture for a yes as an answer and a ‘flat hand’ as a no answer. This meant you could ask her questions with a simple answer. It was important to maintain eye contact however still being to acknowledge her hand gestures. Body language is also important, so in order to do both I bent down to gain the important eye contact. I asked her if it was her position she was in and she gave a flat hand gesture, which indicated no, then I asked if she’d like any pillows on her bed, as she had none, to which she replied in the same way. She then wrote down that it was the mattress as she couldn’t move around easily on it. I told her this was because it was a pressure relieving air mattress. I told…
