However, Brampton speech therapy clinics motivate the patient and mildly act on the condition in step wise manner, ultimately reaching the goal without creating any negative feelings on the mind of the patient. Fascinatingly, speech therapy increases the awareness of a patient about the facial muscles, tongue postures, swallowing patterns, etc. which would make the individual understand language better than before. In addition, there is observed improvement in speech sound productions, strength and…

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) working in the medical setting are typically members of rehabilitation teams, who work with individuals who have suffered from an illness, disease, or injury that may result in neurological deficits affecting speech, language, and/or cognition. Specifically, when working with the adult population, SLPs frequently assess and treat individuals diagnosed with a motor speech disorder called dysarthria. There are many types of dysarthria that can be characterized by deficits in strength, speed, range of movement, steadiness, tone, and overall accuracy (Duffy, 2013). Therefore, it is important that SLPs have an understanding of the neurological system, prominent characteristics, and know a variety of therapy…
I searched for a program specifically targeting the medical aspect of the reasons behind a speech impediment. Often after sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury the incapacitated person’s speech will suffer. As a future clinician it was important that I understand the root of the problem a person possesses in order to offer them the best care. Yeshiva University offered courses that are medically based. The Speech Language Pathology professors and doctors are the top of their field; and they prepare their students offering their students with tools necessary to be competent…

These areas are the key aspects where HR can contribute to the organisations’ performance and support the overall organisational strategy. Because ultimately HR is only a small, yet important, part of a much bigger body that makes up the organisation. Therefore HR needs to be aligned with the organisational goals and the HR professional needs to be fully engaged with them. This is the ‘Performance’ part of the ‘People/Performance Partnership’.…
For the needs of the patients, families, and the health care consumers, and health care practice current assessment practices should be maintained by using evidence –based practices. Health care professionals are expected to demonstrate competent practice within the society. Determining sufficient of clinical assessments and the evaluation of the nursing students has redesigned a large amount of nursing school curriculum to remain relevant. Assessing students educational outcomes based on current clinical practices can be more challenging than just relaying on typical classroom theory in which the evaluation of cognitive knowledge can be tested. Within the clinical setting, students are required to reach a particular level of competency in areas of knowledge, psychomotor, and safety. The clinical performance measurements and determining the how to grade the clinical course has caused debate and concern among nursing educators for years (McCarthy & Murphy, 2010). The purpose of this paper is to examine current assessment practices through current research : reflective journaling (self-evaluation), competency-based performance assessment, and faculty/agency personnel observation/communication that are designed accurately to document competency within the framework of accelerating and fluctuating needs in education and practice.…
Credentialing is the process utilized by employers, often hospitals or health maintenance organizations (HMO), to verify that a practitioner has the required education, training, and experience to practice in the state. State or local laws and rules often specify the types of credentials and verification processes, in which hospitals or another healthcare provider must address in credentialing a practitioner. This process of credentialing is typically done when a practitioner is first employed with a hospital or health maintenance organization and may be updated periodically. ("," 2103, para. 4) Until recently, the term credentialing was associated with frustration and discontent. This association of credentialing with frustration and discontent…
The principles of adult education are quite different from the ideas that are commonly used to teach children in schools (Wegener). The method of teaching a child, where all the relevant knowledge are simply spoon fed to him may not appeal to any adult patient’s learning, nor provide any effective results. Adults are thought to need special considerations that are different from that of children and teens when it comes to learning (Biech).…
The clinical skill this reflective assignment will refer too is that of the measurement of blood pressure. As the experience predominantly involved feelings and thoughts, I found it appropriate to use the Atkins and Murphy (1994) reflective model. The use of this model enables me to reflect on the experiences described below. It also guides my thoughts as to critically analysing the experience and enlightens me as to what has been learned from the experience. A reflective model such as this has been used because, as suggested by Hargreaves (1997), reflective models are a tool that is believed to result in both improvement in patient care and professional development. An appropriate definition I found was by Greenwood (1993), who suggested that, to think about what one is doing whilst one is doing it; it is typically stimulated by surprise, by something which puzzled the practitioner concerned. I found this an appropriate definition as I was taken completely by surprise at the commencement of my experience. In accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Councils (2008a) Code of professional conduct, confidentiality shall be maintained by not mentioning the names of clinical placements or persons.…
