Reflection On Columbus Day
The class material influenced my understanding of American history by giving me very graphic details about Columbus. It was never brought to my attention that he was so ruthless. All this time, Columbus Day has been looked at as a holiday that was for someone who was heroic at some point. After that reading, it’s disturbing to know that a guy who was essentially a mass murderer is recognized once a year. I feel like if more people were told the truth from the victims point of view, no one would want to celebrate this guy.
