Throughout the entirety of my writing career, I have been known for being notoriously bad at citing sources I used in my papers. When my junior English class was assigned to do a research paper over any topic of our choice, I chose to write my paper over violence in video games. Specifically, I did not properly cite any of the sources I used, and so I lost fifteen points off my final grade and received my first ever C on a paper. Until now, I have never properly indented the correct the lines, or title my papers the correct way. Since I am currently aware of how to properly style papers using this format, I believe this will help me with many future papers I will have to write.
On the other hand, I was always decent at developing a good thesis and carrying it out through my papers. For this reason, I knew I would not have trouble with that while taking GSW 1110. But I was ultimately bad at incorporating academic vocabulary into my papers and it always cost me small amounts of points off my grade. For example I used words such as “bad”, “awesome”, or even “lots”. Now I comprehend how to use the incredible assistant of academic vocabulary comprehensively in my papers.
There are numerous writing skills I have acquired taken GSW 1110, without taking this course, my writing may never have improved and certainly not be college-ready. Although I had the option to take regular English, I believe that curriculum would not have better prepared me for college- level writing such as GSW 1110
