Reflection On Joyce Gamarra
During my fall break, I decided to volunteer and help Joyce Gamarra with the cards or anything she needed help with. Mrs. Gamarra first offered me to go with her to a meeting at Wake Baptist hospital to meet with other community leaders to help organize programs in Forsyth County. On October 5th , the day of the event Mrs. Gamarra said that there was another thing that came up that devoted her attention more. I was understanding but I wanted to gain experience in a different way. At this point, I realize that I can only do paper and data work, because that is it more stable and easier for me to do. Mrs. Gamarra and my schedule does not always connect. On October 7th, Mrs. Gamarra asked me to research Safety Net Clinic in the nearby counties.

One bad apple spoils the whole bunch, a phrase that helps explain what has happened to forensics science in the modern era. It’s safe to say that some people have lost faith in forensics and the justice process, all because of a few people who couldn’t handle the power they held. I have chosen to write my annotated bibliography on “The Common Woman” poems by Judy Grahn. I will be focusing on the issue of the female stereotype along with sexism/misogyny. I chose this because each of the poems had a very strong message, but they all sounded like stories we had heard before. As a female, I feel like I am a natural feminist. These poems really stuck out to me because there is still people all around the world that feel that these portrayals of woman are in face “a common woman”. I am hoping to find analyses and research on these poems that tell me where each one got its story from. I am also hoping to find the reasons for writing these poems. What was her intention? In order to answer my questions, I will need to find…

I first met the S family over four years ago when I was employed with Mrs. S at the same position she currently holds. We worked the same shifts at the airport over three years ago, and we have been friends ever since. I called Mrs. S one day, and I informed her that I was in the midst of doing a project for a nursing theory class that I was taking. She seemed interested, so I explained that the class was a community health class, and that the assignment consisted of me interviewing a family and exploring what it would it be like to work with families in their homes, which is known as a community setting. Mrs. S seemed open to the idea, so I told her that the interview would consist mainly of me understanding each family members definition of health,…

Last year, a friend of mine introduced me, along with others, to Habitat for Humanity, a service group that principally makes houses for the needy. That presentation inspired me to contribute to the work this organization sets out to do. A few fellow casemates and I recognized the opportunity of establishing our very own Habitat for Humanity service chapter at Archmere. From my friend’s passion in the group, he inspired and invigorated many others with a similar passion and attraction towards this community. Zeal motivated us to use our fervent belief in the Habitat service group in order to create this service club at Archmere. In a manner, I believe zeal altered my character as I justified my passion and ambition towards creating the club through a charitable deed. Furthermore, we established checkpoints for the Archmere chapter as to develop our small club for the succeeding school year. The major goals we set in place were to go to a Habitat build site, prepare for next year’s activity fair, and regularly attend Habitat related events. At the time of the activity fair in the beginning of the new school year, the original club founders and I worked towards that day by gaining a sense of the greater Habitat community. For the first time, all the current club members went to a Habitat build site and volunteered for about five hours on a Saturday. Our zeal towards Habitat for…

To develop my knowledge and experience I have decided to volunteer again. As a volunteer my job will be to work closely with social workers and provide guidance and support to the venerable family I will be assigned.…

I am worth your time and I am capable of great things, I have potential. What I love doing most of my free time is volunteering, so I feel as if I would be willing to give an adequate amount of help to my community. I have done plenty of volunteer service throughout my past four years of high school. I have always loved helping, but I never completely realized this until my junior year, when I got accepted into National Honor Society. National Honor Society is a community service project club which I am honored to be in. Every month we at least do two hours of individual community projects, plus a group project. Even though we have a specific amount we are supposed to complete each year, I love to do more, because it is something that brings…

Working for this volunteer program has greatly tested my comfort zone when it comes to a lack of information. Spending time in clinicals with this woman in particular, helping her with her daily routine as well as getting to know her on a personal level developed a bond I will never forget. This woman, 96 years young, was full of wisdom and didn’t hesitate to share it all with me. Through this experience I learned what it meant to be a health care provider and truly care for the person I was helping, even when I had never met them before. I’ll never forget the last day of my clinical rotations as I stopped by for a final goodbye to each of the patients I had helped care for and their reactions. Everyone I had helped was more than grateful for my time spent with them, but Beatrice, my last stop before leaving Toledo hospital, broke into tears telling me how I was the hardest worker she had ever had and how much she would miss our time together. It was that moment that I realized this is want I needed to do with my life and that making a difference in someone’s life through healthcare would be the ultimate high.…
