What other volunteer work have you done in the community (may or may not be affiliated with the National Honor Society)?…
The National Honor society is a highly esteemed organisation that is in high schools all across the nation. It gathers students who are already upstanding citizens in their school and community and establishes a sense of selflessness into the youth. The National Honor establishes leadership, selflessness and strengthens the character of their members, which benefits the future of our nation.…
“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…
The values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, are values that are important not only in the National Honor Society but in life as well. These ideals hold what it means to be a member of the National Honor Society as well as a human being. I try to uphold these values in my everyday life wherever I am.…
National Honor Society is a society of great prestige and importance, and I am excited beyond words to submit my application to become part of this organization. NHS looks for leadership qualities, academic achievements, service to the community, and strength of character in its’ potential candidates. I do indeed possess the qualities that NHS is looking for in its’ members, and I would be a valuable member in the Sandalwood chapter of NHS.…
I am applying to the National Honor Society because of its academic value and it may help improve my leadership skills, as well as give me more opportunities to serve my community. If I am accepted into National Honor Society, I promise to contribute my time, energy, and any skills that I have to improve and add to the club’s success.…
The pillar of scholarship has influenced me since before I was inducted into the National Honor Society. From this pillar I adopted the attitude that every aspect of academics and knowledge requires the full devotion of myself and my time. I have learned that the true value of the pillar of scholarship is to educate individuals of the capabilities and success that only continuous education can provide.…
A member of such a society based on character, scholarship and leadership is one who can demonstrate these three tasks in their everyday lives. The ease of maintaining a balanced schedule whilst also upholding these characteristics may not be the simplest of tasks at times, even for the best students, although the drive to strive for this essence sets individuals apart from the majority. I believe that in my everyday life, I demonstrate these ideals and would heartily enjoy guiding others in them. To be exercise any of these qualities requires one’s own desire, a desire which I not only try to instill into myself, but into others as well. Being part of the National Honor Society would not only be an honor in and of itself, but an honor which is able to transcend its membership and let a person such as myself try to better the school, town, and familial communities by doing good in each of them.…
As an executive officer in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, each individual is responsible for a legacy project during the school year. I was responsible for SOS Children’s Village which is a foster care neighborhood that houses children that were abused, neglected and/or abandoned. Even though this was a one-day experience, I was thrilled about the opportunity to work with children as I believe that no child should be denied proper medical care and a healthy home. It is said that time goes by when you are having fun. This was true for our experience as we went four hours over time. I coordinated leadership and team building activities for the children in which both the volunteers and participants enjoyed. Who knew that in five hours’ strong bonds can be developed with a stranger that you might not encounter again.…
Since its establishment, the National Honor Society has been built upon the core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Throughout the years, National Honor Society has upheld these pillars, and its outstanding club members strive to embody these values in every aspect of their lives. However, these four principles add up to become something much more over the course of National Honor Society’s lifetime -- its legacy. These four honorable tenets are what constitutes a legacy, and I wish to become an individual who represents all of these core values -- and more. I genuinely believe that I exemplify most of the qualities that National Honor Society values, and though I am aware that I am still lacking in some, I will work…
There are many accomplishments in my life of which I am proud, however there are two for which I am especially proud. Those being, having the opportunity to play varsity shortstop in high school, and having good enough grades to be nominated for, and to be admitted into, the National Honor Society. These accomplishments make me proud because they are goals that I was able to set and accomplish for myself. These are successes that not everyone can say that they have achieved.…
The National Honors Society is more than just a honor roll, but an organization that recognizes the efforts made by hard working high school students. I would like to join National Honors Society because it would challenge my development in both my community and my school. The National Honors Society, consisting of over one million students, would make me a part of a large community that could create many opportunities for me in the future. A highly respected organization such as the National Honors Society is very significant to me. The scholarships and programs offered by this organization helps increase my ability to get the education that I desire that I might not have been able to receive due to the rapidly rising costs of college. Every…
If I am selected for the forty acres scholarship, I will take as much of it as I am willing to contribute. This would be an incredible amount because I enjoy growing as a person and with others around me. I like doing this in order to create a community of highly impactful individuals that will positively change the communities around us. I already do this in my high school with the National Honor Society by volunteering for different events around my community in forms of beautifying, reforestation, and giving back to my fellow citizens. I also expect to work together and collaborate ideas with my fellow peers to pursue our goals of completing a post-secondary education that not many high school students around the nation have the opportunity…
Like any other high school student I have always put much thought into my future. Where I will be in a few years? How will I get there? What are the steps and sacrifices I would have to take to reach my full potential? These terrifying unanswered questions have driven me to work my hardest throughout my high school career.…
For a girl who is use to achieving at everything she does, it was a great astonishment when I heard I didn’t make it into National Honors Society. I have never felt such like a failure before. When I first started high school as a freshman I have heard of National Honors Society because my brother was in it so I wanted to be in it as well. At my high school you can only be invited into it as a junior. To be invited into it you must have had a 3.5 GPA or higher.…
