Today has been the first session of the counselling skills group. The day was interesting getting to know the tutor and the other twelve members enrolled on the course. I immediately felt comfortable and as the day progressed, I enjoyed talking and listening to people.…
Discuss this week’s objectives with your team. Include the topics you feel comfortable with, any topics you struggled with, and how the topics relate to your field.…
This week was very diverse in the activities that I did. The court review for Jamarion Lawhorn was very interesting. His case happened 3 years ago when he stabbed a boy at a playground and the victim died. Lawhorn was waived as an adult in the case. This reflects the juvenile and adult systems which I was taught about in my classes. When he turns 19 he will be done with the juvenile home and at that time they will have to decide what to do with him. He could still potentially get prison time as an adult. It was nice to know about the systems and how they worked to really understand what could happen in his case in the future.…
I have a better understanding of all the topics we went over during the 8 weeks. The fun part I had with each section is placing people with the different ways. For example, when we learned about leading, rewarding, communications, etc. it was fun to match up the different managers/leaders within my organization to the different styles there were to doing things. It helped a lot to put definitions into application.…
Based on the program outcomes listed above, your program reflection from Week Two, and your program questionnaire from Week One, what would you identify as areas you need to…
In addition, to a staff recognition program, I created a paraprofessional in training presentation. The goal of the presentation was to train future paraprofessionals in their role and expectations as it relates to school policy. The presentation helped teachers provide less training to paraprofessionals during instructional time. They were better able to focus on teaching and achieving student goals. New paraprofessionals were more confident when stepping into the classroom. I take pleasure in being able to help teachers and paraprofessionals work together to meet the needs of the students.…
My instructor has been very encouraging during this course. My instructor is available, answers emails in a timely manner and reaches out to me as a student to make sure that I have what I need to be successful. I am grateful for her assistance and look forward to the remaining of the…
In week two I learned a lot about how different databases reflect in different ways according to the different business needs. During the second discussion question I learned about how the two major databases, Microsoft Access and Oracle are leading the top businesses today. There were many differences between the two and I found that in my career I have been using both without knowing it at first. The individual assignment was probably the most informative portion of the week because I was able to learn more about the business systems and am now able to apply them to where I work now.…
Your thoughts in this week’s discussion post were very well thought out and you made some great points. Although we took different approaches in each learning exercise it is always interesting to see the perspective others have. Learning exercise 18.11 is the situation that I struggled the most on. I have no children and I don’t have a job while pursing my ADN, which made imagining this scenario hard for me. I know you have three kids and are always crazy busy so I was interested to see how you would handle the issues presented. We took very different routes, but we both agreed on one thing. We thought that if the senior student took more time for herself and her family it would benefit her in the long run. “Perhaps the most important strategy…
One of my functional area goals are self when the teachers say good morning to the children when they walk in to the classroom. We also encourage the other children to say good morning to the other children when they walk in the classroom. This makes the children feel special and welcome. We ensure that I am always available when the children are separate from their parents , and when they fall and get hurt. That we provide opportunities for the children to always feel successful and feel proud of themselves. Support social and emotional development to provide a positive guidance and a positive relationship through out the daily interactions with the other children. The children need to feel this kind of care at the school and the children learn the trust and the security. At circle time chose one child to be the helper for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack to be helping the teacher and being the line leader this helps the children feel sense of pride and independence.…
To this learner that was the most valuable learning experiences every. My Instructor, help open up our minds and push us to answer questions that we might not have thought about, that called for us to do additional research to gain a better understanding of our research, and this learners classmates help to make the experience more of and enjoyment than a pain. They were able to do this by helping this learner feel ok about her long drawn out reports. Every time this learner thought she missed the point for the discussion, they help me to feel reassure that I was on the right track. They added to this learner report my interjecting their thoughts, they were polite and they examine this learner’s work. That to this learner is the most valuable experience a student can ever have, and it definitely will help in the professional world. Thank you Dr. Conis and…
Working with Adrian this past year has definitely helped my grow personally. I am reminded to do what’s right now matter the work or consequences. My strive to help others has gone beyond the needs at school. I feel the need to connect with community members in my district that are not familiar of their rights and how to access proper resources.…
The assignments we are challenging in their own different way. For the rhetorical analysis, finding a technical document for actuarial science was extremely challenging. Outside of finding it, writing was straightforward. For the resume assignment, adjusting it for specific jobs will definitely help next year when looking for jobs and adjusting my resume for specific companies. The teamwork projects including the instruction set and recommendation report helped me learn how to communicate with team members much more effectively and setting up meetings better. I really enjoyed working with my team members and learning how to work on a paper collaboratively and make sure everyone is on the same page writing in the same style producing the same message. It was also a challenge to figure out how to present our reports as we all had different ideas. Trying to decide which would be the best was a big challenge, but voting seemed to be the best way to go about it.…
I loved being able to walk into the classroom and see all of those children run up to me with smiling faces saying that they miss me, asking me if I will be staying the whole day or asking me if I could play or read with them. They make me laugh, they give me hugs, they cheer for my presence and they are so observant. The most amazing feeling of all though is when the children tell me they…
This was very interesting to watch. Their routine was to come in the class get settled and a student goes to the “Helping Hands” board and read off the assignment duties for the week. In regards to the rules, they knew to raise their hands to be recognized by the teacher. Should a student finish their work ahead of everyone they are to get additional work out of the remediation box. The thing that was truly amazing was they would cheer for their fellow classmates and say “good job and/or goog try”. They were very encouraging towards each other.…
