Reflection Paper
Introduction In my paper, there will be three questions asked and answered. The first question is why are personal testimonies important in sharing the gospel? The second question is if a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life? The third and final question is, what can local church do to better communicate God’s love to your community. Let’s look at the answers to the questions.ve to your community?

Why are personal testimonies important in sharing the gospel? 1Peter 3:15 says “But in your heart set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who ask you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. What are personal testimonies? In an article entitled Preparing your Personal Testimony defines personal testimonies “as your own communication of your personal experience in coming to know Jesus Christ as your savior.” Sharing my personal testimony is important to and it’s good for the mind. You can tell people what God has done before and after you became a Christian. Sharing your testimony lets people know how you became to know God and what he means to you, is an awesome feeling to me. Sharing your testimony could bring someone to god, when they hear how good God is and all he is to you and what he has done in your life. When I share my personal testimony about how God brought me out of my addiction, each time it’s like a burden has been lifted off me. I don’t mind sharing my personal testimony because I am not ashamed I could be helping another addict that’s listening to my testimony. Everyone needs to get out and share their personal testimony about what God has done for them because he is due the entire honor and he is so great. I wish I could go to the mountain top and tell my personal testimony about what God did for me. Elmer Towns states that “Testimony may be a natural entrance to presenting the gospel.”

William Fay begins the book, Share Jesus Without Fear by pointing out the underlying reason for evangelism. He argues that evangelism is not about bringing people to Jesus or “winning souls” but it is about obedience (p.3), motivated by faithfulness. Fay challenges believers about their “sin of silence” by pointing out that only five to ten percent of Christians have shared their faith in the past year (p.6). He argues that there are two groups of Christians: those who talk to the lost and lose who only talk about the lost (p.8). He encourages believers to talk to the lost and avoid the “sin of silence” and the lack of urgency concerning evangelism.…

In his book Share Jesus Without Fear, William Fay lays out an easy and attainable way for one to reach people for Christ. A former mobster, and prostitution house owner, Fay says that if “God can take somebody like me and change him, he can take anybody in your life and change him as well.”1 In an easy to understand, comprehensive way, Fay shows how to overcome your fears and witness to those who are lost. By breaking down the six most common excuses one uses not to evangelize, he shows how to overcome the roadblocks that we place on ourselves. For instance, one of the fears he addresses is the fear of rejection. Fay points out that one must realize that this is not a contest. He says, “success is sharing your faith and living your life for Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with bringing anyone to the Lord.”2 He goes on to say that it takes someone 7.6 times of hearing the Gospel before they give their lives to Christ. Just because you may have been the 3rd, does not mean that it didn’t make a difference. Throughout the book Fay lays out questions to ask, verses to go to, and objections that you will encounter, to lay out a way for you to share your faith with others without excuse.…

This resource offers innovate way in expressing what has changed the believers heart. This could also be taught to an entire church on how to start an evangelism program. This philosophy can be implemented right away into an every day conversation. A person would probably need to read through the work possibly twice to fully understand the concepts being presented and to see how to implement them into their daily lives. It would have to become part of them. This book helps clarify a simple way to share the faith. There are a multiple of programs, methods, and marketing technique that are available to sharing the Gospel these days. However, the approach that was examined in “Sharing Jesus without Fear” alleviates the pressure that some might feel to follow a system. This system is heavily dependent on the scripture and the work of the Holy Spirit to do the convicting. It really does help me to understand that the Gospel can be shared virtually anywhere without being so in the face of people. This is opening a door to ask someone to share what they believe with the believer and in return showing the true. Instead of saying out from the beginning, you are going to hell. It does take evangelism in a different direction and his emphasis on living out the Gospel. To having a powerful impact in regards to the Gospel one must be living it and this is so…

A person’s testimony explains why they are a Christian. Their testimony tells about their faith and the life experiences that have brought them to their faith. Testimonies are also given to help others relate so that they may either accept Christ as their personal savior or the testimony can also bring hope and strength to a Christian who is struggling. Testimonies are powerful; Dr. Towns discussed in the presentation “Arguments that the Bible is the word of God” the convicting, convincing, converting argument as being one of the ways that proves the Bible to be the Word of God. I especially liked this argument because those three steps build a person’s testimony and it transforms lives. The Bible expresses the importance of a person’s personal testimony in many verses. An example would be after Jesus healed the demon possessed man, Mark 5:19 (NIV) states that “Jesus did not let him, but said, ”Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” That verse makes it very clear that we are to spread our testimony on to others. Jesus also stated in Mark 16:15(NIV) “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”…

A testimony is how one person’s Christian walk came to be. They are used to show how someone was saved. It tells about their life experiences as a Christian, or how they came to Christ. Typically people share their testimony as an evangelical aid. A testimony could also be shared to give encouragement to struggling Christians. Dr. Towns states in the presentation “Arguments that the Bible is the word of God” that “the convicting, convincing, converting argument as being one of the ways that proves the Bible to be the Word of God.”…

Many people engage in community service project because they are either forced as a punishment or sentence. Others engage in community service out of Spirit of unselfishness, or a desire to connect with their communities by helping out. For me, it brings a sense of completeness. During the past few semester my team members and I have engage in different projects, Collecting food, clothes and donating to the homeless. In a way I’ve experience working the different organizations and helping the community. But with this particular project, it meant much more then collecting for the disadvantaged, It was about lending a hand and your heart to a community in need.. During my involvement in this fieldwork project I got the opportunity to offer my unconditional assistance for one day in a non-profit making community based project. The name of the project was Liberty City Construction, which is being undertaken by a Christian ministry organization whose aim is to improve the livelihood of low-income families through building affordable and decent houses at a 0% interest rate. There are a lot of books that have been written over what the different spiritual gifts are and how they are supposed to be used. There are quite a few verses in the New Testament that covers the spiritual gifts and how we are to use them. In 1 Corinthians 12:4-8 we are told, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the sane God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same spirit.” The Bible…
