Reflection Paper
Introduction Over the last seven weeks, this theology class has discussed several topics that have been very insightful and helpful in my Christian walk. I have learned many new things and have also gone deeper in my understanding of the things I already knew. In this paper, I would like to discuss three topics that I found to be the most interesting. The topics that will be discussed are as follows: Did Jesus need to be born of a virgin? If a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life? And what can your local church do to better communicate God’s love to your community?
Section One Did Jesus need to be born of a virgin? The miraculous birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is nothing short of a miracle. It is one of the fundamentals of the Christian faith. His birth was predicted in Isaiah 7:14 which states, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah is stating here that is birth would come about through a virgin whose name is Mary. But why was it so important that she be a virgin? First of all, it was important because if he was not born of a virgin, He would not have been sinless. It was required of Jesus to be sinless in order to save us from our sins. If He was born of human parents, He would have inherited the sin nature. Romans 5:12 states,” Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned.” The only way to come into the world without having this sin nature would be to born of a virgin and be conceived by the Holy Spirit. Secondly, it was important because Jesus’ purpose on earth was to become the sacrifice for our sins. This sacrifice was to be without blemish. If Jesus was born of human parents he would not have been without the blemish of sin on his life. Lastly, it was important because it proves the accuracy of the Scripture. There are many passages in the

Religious studies and Theology are undoubtedly of invaluable effect on the life of the learner. The two studies have the mandate of transforming the overall perception to life as regards religion, personal beliefs and the philosophy of life. In this study, an array of topics were studied which in the end further enlightened on the mental conception and most interesting was the study involving the claim by Jesus that he was God. In addition to these, the course was informative and elaborates on the questions most people ask about the life of modern day Christians. Does it matter the lifestyle one adopts? Are there any procedures the church can initiate so as to communicate God 's love for the community in a manner that is not questionable and without doubt, but, remains beneficial to all Christians? Indeed, the questions are very relevant and of great importance to any present day Christian living in faith and in such hard times where confusion and…

Unfortunately, the poor, unbalanced teaching of many church leaders and the hypocrisy of professing Christians continues to contribute to the postmodern skepticism of the miraculous and bold claims of Christianity. As a result, there is an increasing need for believers to be acquainted with a general overview of the basic doctrines of Scripture and the concept of the Christian life. The aim of this course is to give a rational and practical overview of Christian doctrine so that the modern mind can understand what Christianity is all about. In contrast to other courses that attempt…

    The Baptism Debate

    • 3012 Words

The debate over baptism has become one that encompasses so many areas. Where most theological discussions are concerned with a primary topic, baptism debates consist of many. Debates on the purpose of baptism, the benefits of baptism, who baptism was designed for, and what is the biblical mode of baptism are just some. These areas will be discussed here in this paper. It will be discussed (1) the purpose and benefits, if any, of baptism, (2) was baptism designed for infants or just those who have believed in Christ, and (3) what mode of baptism is biblical. These discussions will present arguments from two sides, while searching for one truth. People may not agree with the points that will be made or presented here and may not represent the total truth. It has become aware that people will debate over many theological issues until Christ’s return and there may never be a single debate solved for all to agree on. Even though some people will see these debates as pointless, people need to hold in high regard that they are not pointless and they weigh heavy on some people’s relationship with Christ. In addition, God gives the command to continue in all one does to learn all that is related to Christ for our growth. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18)…

Many people engage in community service project because they are either forced as a punishment or sentence. Others engage in community service out of Spirit of unselfishness, or a desire to connect with their communities by helping out. For me, it brings a sense of completeness. During the past few semester my team members and I have engage in different projects, Collecting food, clothes and donating to the homeless. In a way I’ve experience working the different organizations and helping the community. But with this particular project, it meant much more then collecting for the disadvantaged, It was about lending a hand and your heart to a community in need.. During my involvement in this fieldwork project I got the opportunity to offer my unconditional assistance for one day in a non-profit making community based project. The name of the project was Liberty City Construction, which is being undertaken by a Christian ministry organization whose aim is to improve the livelihood of low-income families through building affordable and decent houses at a 0% interest rate. The organization founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda fuller has built and rehabilitated more then 100,000 families in need, becoming the world leader in addressing the issues if poverty housing. They work in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all social, economic, and ethic group to expand communities with people in need by building an renovating houses so that everyone can experience God’s love and can live and grow in to all the God intends. This paper will be written to discuss the two topics I have chosen to write about for my first reflection paper. The topics I chose are spiritual gifts and love. When you start to think about it, these two things go together. If a person uses their spiritual gifts for the right reasons they will be doing it out of love for God. A lot of people these days do not use their spiritual gifts to edify God or to show the love of God to others. They are only looking for the praise of others to build their own self-worth.…
