When 9/11 occurred I was only three years old and I didn’t realize what was going on. All I knew is something was not right that day as i saw all the adults around me put on the news and stood in shock of what they were seeing on the television. together there were four planes that were hijacked. The first plane struck one of the twin towers at 9:03am. The next struck the other twin tower at 10:28am. Another plane hit the pentagon. The last plane crashed in Pennsylvania but never met the intended target. This was a devastating day for our nation and changed our security system forever. For example, security has increased dramatically in the airports that was once overlooked is now a norm when traveling abroad and walking on the streets of New york City.
I learned that many people were affected by 9/11 even though they were as young as 3 years old, like I was.
I learned that I take little things for granted sometimes. I feel that the little things mean alot even though they might not matter to some they make a big difference in the world. I feel that I would do this activity again because it was fun and I got to make a few new friends. I also learned that people who helped with the cleanup of 9/11 had health issues.
I also learned the long term effects of 9/11. I learned that we weren’t doing well economically and it led to other wars with Afghanistan because of Al-qaeda. Also, Homeland security’s budget increased from $16 billion in 2002 to more than $43 billion in 2011. There also a long list of many other things that have changed because of 9/11 but the main thing if affected was our nation. The security was never the same because of the events that have taken place. I feel that it may be annoying to stay in a long line at the airport but its also important for our safety so I don’t mind
it.
