This is a famous Pepsi commercial, known for the famous song "We will rock you" of Queen, covered by the trio powerful singers of America, Beyoncé, P!nk and Brittney Spear, also with the appearance of the famous Spanish singer/actor Enrique Iglesias. This video is rather plot like, very excited, very inspiring, with the setting of citizen, kings and queens and gladiator under the Coliseum of Rome. The three female gladiators were put up to fight each other (Beyoncé, P!nk and Brittney Spear) for the entertainment of the King (Enrique) while he was drinking Pepsi. The crowd-citizen doesn’t seem to like him, as if he is a tyrant, and therefore there were judgment for him everywhere. This advertisement company did made a nice comparison, comparing the possession of the King's Pepsi is like a possession of gold that causes the angry mob, especially it was a hot sunny day for all of them. And so, to trigger the audience interest, when the three gladiators were unleash to fight, they give up their weapon and start singing We will Rock you, like an inspiring tool saying "Pepsi will rock you". Eventually, the lyrics was indeed powerful, " blood on your face, you're big disgrace, somebody got to take your hand and out it into place", all very fit the context of wanting to defeat the King. And when they did, the Pepsi just became a prize and everybody cheered, making Pepsi even more special. Furthermore, Pepsi represented the breakthrough of monarchy; emphasize the individualistic powerful personality that Americans believe they have. Focusing on the detail, not only the advertisement is remarkable in term of content, music and actors but the fact it was release around the summer time make it even more famous. Cold Pepsi under hot sunny day, with the gulp sound as the king swallow the drink, and the sound of pop gas when opened the can, it gives a refreshing feeling and therefore very likely to be memorize and consumed greatly.…
In “The Ordinary Devoted Mother” Bechdel’s creation process in writing is very much unique. The reason being is because in the story, the order she goes about gathering information and creating imagery is detailed in a way that grabs the reader’s attention. Bechdel sees this process as being informal and somewhat therapeutic. Her form of writing comes from the experiences she’s encountered and with every experience it’s being incorporated in her style of writing. The train of thought that Bechdel goes through is very sporadic, but organized. In this story Bechdel has a way of putting the little pieces together in order to create the bigger picture. For instance, Bechdel analyzes the pictures of her when she was an infant, trying to understand the logic from then to now and how her mother became less affectionate. She even goes in to detail when explaining why she wanted to find out and also what she wanted the outcome to be.…
Both Hinduism and Buddhism are more philosophical than religious. Both describe an all-encompassing philosophy and define existence itself. For instance, the essential Hindu concept defining the individual and his responsibilities is dharma. A convoluted term, dharma is a sense of obligation. One must fulfill his roles in society and the world. Such responsibilities include reproduction and caste duties, but extend into…

The word literature has a great meaning in everyday life and comes in so many different ways. The body of written works of a language, period, or culture with the imaginative or creative writing especially of recognized artistic value (Houghton Mifflin Company, 2011) is the dictionary meaning. Lyrics, poems, short stories are all kinds of literature and many authors will write something they are passionate about or have an interest in. Many instances there are times a writer will write about a particular subject or within a certain genre and they write in a manner that sometimes had a hidden meaning. To know the hidden meaning the author will use symbolism, and as a writer and reader it helps to understand the elements that go into writing a poem, short story, and lyric. The writer goes through a process of creating a theme which helps to set the tone and will help them to develop the plot. Many times an author when writing a poem or lyric will not always have a character, but will have some sort of setting that resulted from the theme. All of the elements of literature need to have been put into place, and in many times the writer will also put a hidden meaning into the story, poem, or lyrics which the reader needs to read between the lines. Symbolism can be revealed in the theme, the tone or the plot of the story, poem and lyric. To find the underlying meaning or the symbolism the author is trying to portray the reader needs to be familiar with the elements of literature. The story “Used to Live Here Once” by Jean Rhys, the poem “The Road not Taken”, by Robert Frost, and the poem “My Papa’s Waltz”, by Theodore Roethke, follow the elements of literature, and have the symbolism that if the reader was not familiar with could miss the meaning of the story or poem.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

Hinduism is a complicated religion with one central idea on what to do to achieve happiness. Truth means everything in Hindu faith. Truth is the spirit of everything and the only real thing. The Vedas, the sacred writings of Hinduism, basically ruled the lives of Indians. The Vedas were believed to be never ending and full of ancient revelations made by Hindu monks in ancient times. The goal of human souls in Hinduism was to achieve moksha. Moksha is the end of reincarnation where the soul rejoins with Brahman. Hinduism can be complex but this is the simplest way to describe their faith and ideas.…
In the two most complex and influential religions of Buddhism and Hinduism, Dharma is the belief of a life path that should be followed in both religious practices, and is considered to be the foundation of both, and while vastly similar, the concept and meaning differs slightly between the two. Buddhism, Hinduism, and other religions of Indian origin share the concept of dharma, a term that makes its appearance in the ancient Vedic scriptures as a word for the central order of the universe (Thompson, 2015). When Buddhism separated from Hinduism, the two religions carried on to use the same word but with different interpretations. In Hinduism, dharma often refers to the moral and spiritual obligations of an observant Hindu. In Buddhism, dharma essentially refers to the Buddha’s teachings and other Buddhist doctrines (Thompson, 2015).…
1984 by George Orwell talks about one’s life in a dictatorial society. During my progress of reading, I realized how simple I used to think the world is. This book shows a different style of governing, which leads to a different way of surviving in this dictatorial society. The story introduces the “Big Brother is watching you” idea which seems to brainwashed everyone. People either truly believed or they pretended to believe this Ingsoc political ideology. A society where every movement is monitored, any “friend” around could be a spy, nevertheless, many people have this undoubted believe that the party can bring them better lives. However, in my point of view, their lives are not that great, lack of resources, lack of the freedom to speak…
Both religions interpret dharma differently but it can be broken down to the same basic concepts – that dharma is how you should live your life and that dharma is the order of the universe. The Hindu meaning of dharma focuses on sustaining cosmic order and the moral and societal order of humanity. The caste system is very prevalent in the Hindu society and different castes hold different moral obligations that if not completed and done so in a good manner, may result in them being reborn as a lower caste in their next life. What is…
